- Exodus 35:30
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רְאוּ קָרָא יְהֹוָה בְּשֵׁם בְּצַלְאֵל בֶּן־אוּרִי בֶן־חוּר לְמַטֵּה יְהוּדָה׃
And Moses said to the Israelites: See, GOD has singled out by name Bezalel, son of Uri son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר מֹשֶׁה לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל חֲזוֹ דְּרַבִּי יְיָ בְּשׁוֹם בְּצַלְאֵל בַּר אוּרִי בַר חוּר לְשִׁבְטָא דִּיהוּדָה׃
Moshe said to the B’nei Yisrael, “See, Adonoy has designated [exalted] by name, Betzalel, son of Uri, son of Chur, of the tribe of Yehudah.
- Exodus 35:31
וַיְמַלֵּא אֹתוֹ רוּחַ אֱלֹהִים בְּחׇכְמָה בִּתְבוּנָה וּבְדַעַת וּבְכׇל־מְלָאכָה׃
endowing him with a divine spirit of skill, ability, and knowledge in every kind of craft,
Targum Onkelos
וְאַשְׁלֵים עִמֵּיהּ רוּחַ מִן קֳדָם יְיָ בְּחָכְמָא בְּסוּכְלְתָנוּ וּבְמַדַּע וּבְכָל עֲבִידָא׃
And He endowed him with Divine [the] spirit [of prophecy from before Adonoy], with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with [the skill to perform] all types of crafting.
- Exodus 35:32
וְלַחְשֹׁב מַחֲשָׁבֹת לַעֲשֹׂת בַּזָּהָב וּבַכֶּסֶף וּבַנְּחֹשֶׁת׃
and inspiring him to make designs for work in gold, silver, and copper,
Targum Onkelos
וּלְאַלָּפָא אֻמָּנְוָן לְמֶעֱבַד בְּדַהְבָּא וּבְכַסְפָּא וּבִנְחָשָׁא׃
And to devise [plans] [teach craftsmanship] with ingenuity, to execute [those plans] in gold, in silver and in copper.
- Exodus 35:33
וּבַחֲרֹשֶׁת אֶבֶן לְמַלֹּאת וּבַחֲרֹשֶׁת עֵץ לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּכׇל־מְלֶאכֶת מַחֲשָׁבֶת׃
to cut stones for setting and to carve wood—to work in every kind of designer’s craft—
Targum Onkelos
וּבְאוּמָּנוּת אֶבֶן טָבָא לְאַשְׁלָמָא וּבְנַגָּרוּת אָעָא לְמֶעֱבַד בְּכָל עֲבִידַת אוּמָּנְוָן׃
And in masonary [to cut precious stones] for settings, and in carpentry, to execute all kinds of clever tasks [of craftsmanship].
- Exodus 35:34
וּלְהוֹרֹת נָתַן בְּלִבּוֹ הוּא וְאׇהֳלִיאָב בֶּן־אֲחִיסָמָךְ לְמַטֵּה־דָן׃
and to give directions. He and Oholiab son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan
Targum Onkelos
וּלְאַלָּפָא יְהַב בְּלִבֵּיהּ הוּא וְאָהֳלִיאָב בַּר אֲחִיסָמָךְ לְשִׁבְטָא דְּדָן׃
And the ability to instruct he instilled in his heart, he (Betzalel) and Oholiov, the son of Achisomoch of the tribe of Dan.

מִלֵּא אֹתָם חׇכְמַת־לֵב לַעֲשׂוֹת כׇּל־מְלֶאכֶת חָרָשׁ ׀ וְחֹשֵׁב וְרֹקֵם בַּתְּכֵלֶת וּבָאַרְגָּמָן בְּתוֹלַעַת הַשָּׁנִי וּבַשֵּׁשׁ וְאֹרֵג עֹשֵׂי כׇּל־מְלָאכָה וְחֹשְׁבֵי מַחֲשָׁבֹת׃
have been endowed with the skill to do any work—of the carver, the designer, the embroiderer in blue, purple, crimson yarns, and in fine linen, and of the weaver—as workers in all crafts and as makers of designs.
Targum Onkelos
אַשְׁלֵים עִמְּהוֹן חַכִּימוּת לִבָּא לְמֶעֱבַד כָּל עֲבִידַת נַגָּר וְאוּמָּן וְצַיָּיר בְּתַכְלָא וּבְאַרְגְּוָנָא בִּצְבַע זְהוֹרִי וּבְבוּצָא וּמָחֵי עָבְדֵי כָּל עֲבִידָא וּמַלְּפֵי אוּמָּנְוָן׃
He filled them with wisdom of the heart, to execute all the tasks of the engraver [carpenter], the craftsman, and the embroiderer of greenish-blue wool, dark red wool, crimson [colored] wool, fine linen, and the [the tasks of] weaver, [also] that of laborers and planners [those who teach craftsmanship].
- Exodus 36:1
וְעָשָׂה בְצַלְאֵל וְאׇהֳלִיאָב וְכֹל ׀ אִישׁ חֲכַם־לֵב אֲשֶׁר נָתַן יְהֹוָה חׇכְמָה וּתְבוּנָה בָּהֵמָּה לָדַעַת לַעֲשֹׂת אֶת־כׇּל־מְלֶאכֶת עֲבֹדַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּה יְהֹוָה׃
Let, then, Bezalel and Oholiab and all the skilled persons whom GOD has endowed with skill and ability to perform expertly all the tasks connected with the service of the sanctuary carry out all that GOD has commanded.
Targum Onkelos
וְיַעֲבֵיד בְּצַלְאֵל וְאָהֳלִיאָב וְכֹל גְּבַר חַכִּים לִבָּא דִּיהַב יְיָ חָכְמְתָא וְסוּכְלְתָנוּתָא בְּהוֹן לְמִדַּע לְמֶעֱבַד יָת כָּל עֲבִידַת פּוּלְחַן קוּדְשָׁא לְכָל דְּפַקֵּיד יְיָ׃
And they shall execute—Betzalel and Oholiov—and every wise-hearted man whom Adonoy had endowed with wisdom and insight to know (how) to execute in all of the holy work—all that Adonoy had commanded.
- Exodus 36:2
וַיִּקְרָא מֹשֶׁה אֶל־בְּצַלְאֵל וְאֶל־אׇהֳלִיאָב וְאֶל כׇּל־אִישׁ חֲכַם־לֵב אֲשֶׁר נָתַן יְהֹוָה חׇכְמָה בְּלִבּוֹ כֹּל אֲשֶׁר נְשָׂאוֹ לִבּוֹ לְקׇרְבָה אֶל־הַמְּלָאכָה לַעֲשֹׂת אֹתָהּ׃
Moses then called Bezalel and Oholiab, and every skilled person whom GOD had endowed with skill, everyone who excelled in ability, to undertake the task and carry it out.
Targum Onkelos
וּקְרָא מֹשֶׁה לִבְצַלְאֵל וּלְאָהֳלִיאָב וּלְכָל גְּבַר חַכִּים לִבָּא דִּיהַב יְיָ חָכְמְתָא בְּלִבֵּיהּ כֹּל דְּאִתְרְעִי לִבֵּיהּ לְמִקְרַב לַעֲבִידְתָא לְמֶעֱבַד יָתַהּ׃
Moshe called to Betzalel and to Oholiov, and to every wise-hearted man whom Adonoy had endowed with wisdom in his heart, everyone whose heart moved him to approach the task—to execute it.
- Exodus 36:3
וַיִּקְחוּ מִלִּפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה אֵת כׇּל־הַתְּרוּמָה אֲשֶׁר הֵבִיאוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לִמְלֶאכֶת עֲבֹדַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ לַעֲשֹׂת אֹתָהּ וְהֵם הֵבִיאוּ אֵלָיו עוֹד נְדָבָה בַּבֹּקֶר בַּבֹּקֶר׃
They took over from Moses all the gifts that the Israelites had brought, to carry out the tasks connected with the service of the sanctuary. But when these continued to bring freewill offerings to him morning after morning,
Targum Onkelos
וּנְסִיבוּ מִן קֳדָם מֹשֶׁה יָת כָּל אַפְרָשׁוּתָא דְּאֵיתִיאוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לַעֲבִידַת פּוּלְחַן קוּדְשָׁא לְמֶעֱבַד יָתַהּ וְאִנּוּן מֵיתַן לֵיהּ עוֹד נְדַבְתָּא בִּצְפַר בִּצְפַר׃
And they took from before Moshe, all the terumah-offering which the B’nei Yisrael brought for the tasks of the holy work, to execute it. And they continued to bring gifts each and every morning.
- Exodus 36:4
וַיָּבֹאוּ כׇּל־הַחֲכָמִים הָעֹשִׂים אֵת כׇּל־מְלֶאכֶת הַקֹּדֶשׁ אִישׁ־אִישׁ מִמְּלַאכְתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר־הֵמָּה עֹשִׂים׃
every single one of the artisans who were engaged in the tasks of the sanctuary came from the task in which they were engaged,
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲתוֹ כָּל חַכִּימַיָּא דְּעָבְדִין יָת כָּל עֲבִידַת קוּדְשָׁא גְּבַר גְּבַר מֵעֲבִידְתֵיהּ דְּאִנּוּן עָבְדִין׃
All the wise men came—who were executing all the holy tasks—each and every man from the task in which he was engaged.
- Exodus 36:5
וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר מַרְבִּים הָעָם לְהָבִיא מִדֵּי הָעֲבֹדָה לַמְּלָאכָה אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּה יְהֹוָה לַעֲשֹׂת אֹתָהּ׃
and said to Moses, “The people are bringing more than is needed for the tasks entailed in the work that GOD has commanded to be done.”
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַרוּ לְמֹשֶׁה לְמֵימַר מַסְגַּן עַמָּא לְאֵיתָאָה מִסַּת פּוּלְחָנָא לַעֲבִידְתָא דְּפַקֵּיד יְיָ לְמֶעֱבַד יָתַהּ׃
They said the following to Moshe: the people are bringing too much—more than is needed for the tasks which Adonoy has commanded to execute.
- Exodus 36:6
וַיְצַו מֹשֶׁה וַיַּעֲבִירוּ קוֹל בַּמַּחֲנֶה לֵאמֹר אִישׁ וְאִשָּׁה אַל־יַעֲשׂוּ־עוֹד מְלָאכָה לִתְרוּמַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ וַיִּכָּלֵא הָעָם מֵהָבִיא׃
Moses thereupon had this proclamation made throughout the camp: “Not a single man or woman should make further effort toward gifts for the sanctuary!” So the people stopped bringing:
Targum Onkelos
וּפַקֵּיד מֹשֶׁה וְאַעְבַּרוּ כָּרוֹז בְּמַשְׁרִיתָא לְמֵימַר גְּבַר וְאִתָּא לָא יַעְבְּדוּן עוֹד עֲבִידְתָא לְאַפְרָשׁוּת קוּדְשָׁא וּפְסַק עַמָּא מִלְּאֵיתָאָה׃
Moshe commanded—and they proclaimed throughout the encampment saying, “Let no man or woman bring any more material for the sacred offering.” And the people stopped bringing.
- Exodus 36:7
וְהַמְּלָאכָה הָיְתָה דַיָּם לְכׇל־הַמְּלָאכָה לַעֲשׂוֹת אֹתָהּ וְהוֹתֵר׃
their efforts had been more than enough for all the tasks to be done.
Targum Onkelos
וַעֲבִידְתָא הֲוָת מִסַּת לְכָל עֲבִידְתָא לְמֶעֱבַד יָתַהּ וִיתַרַת׃
The material was enough for all the work that had to be done, and some was left over.
