- Leviticus 13:18
When an inflammation appears on one’s skin and it heals,
Targum Onkelos
When a person has on his skin an inflammation that has healed.
- Leviticus 13:19
and a white swelling or a white discoloration streaked with red develops where the inflammation was, that person shall report to the priest.
Targum Onkelos
If there was on the area of the inflammation a spot of intense [deep] whiteness or a snow-white spot tinged with red it shall be shown to the kohein.
- Leviticus 13:20
If the priest finds that it appears lower than the rest of the skin and that the hair in it has turned white, the priest shall pronounce them impure; it is a leprous affection that has broken out in the inflammation.
Targum Onkelos
The kohein shall see it and behold! its appearance is lower than the skin, and its hair has turned white, the kohein shall declare him unclean; It is the skin-eruption of tzoraas [‘confinement’] that has sprouted through the inflammation.
- Leviticus 13:21
But if the priest finds that there is no white hair in it and it is not lower than the rest of the skin, and it is faded, the priest shall isolate them for seven days.
Targum Onkelos
If the kohein looks at it and behold! there is no white hair in it, and it is not lower than the skin and it is faint, the kohein shall confine him for seven days.
- Leviticus 13:22
If it should spread in the skin, the priest shall pronounce them impure; it is an affection.
Targum Onkelos
If it spread [increased] in the skin, the kohein shall declare him unclean, it is a skin eruption.
- Leviticus 13:23
But if the discoloration remains stationary, not having spread, it is the scar of the inflammation; the priest shall pronounce them pure.
Targum Onkelos
If the snow-white spot remains in its place and it did not spread [increase], it is [merely] a scar [an impression] of the inflammation and the kohein shall declare him clean.
