- Genesis 3:22
And the ETERNAL God said, “Now that humankind has become like any of us, knowing good and bad, what if one should stretch out a hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever!”
Targum Onkelos
Adonoy Elohim said, Behold, the man has become like one of us [unique. It is for him] to know [what is] good and [what is] evil. Now he must be prevented from reaching out his hand and also taking from the Tree of Life and eat [from it] and live forever.
- Genesis 3:23
So the ETERNAL God banished them from the garden of Eden, to till the humus from which they were taken:
Targum Onkelos
[Therefore] Adonoy Elohim sent him out of the Garden of Eden, to till the soil from which he was taken [created].
- Genesis 3:24
humankind was driven out; and east of the garden of Eden were stationed the cherubim and the fiery ever-turning sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.
Targum Onkelos
He banished the man [from the Garden] and at the east of [before] the Garden of Eden He stationed the Cherubim and the flame of the rotating sword, to guard the way to the Tree of Life.
- Genesis 4:1
Now the Human knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gained someone new with GOD’s help.”
Targum Onkelos

She then bore his brother Abel. Abel became a keeper of sheep, and Cain became a tiller of the soil.
Targum Onkelos
She gave birth again, to his brother Hevel. Hevel became a shepherd, but Kayin was a worker of the soil.
- Genesis 4:3
In the course of time, Cain brought an offering to GOD from the fruit of the soil;

In the course of time, Kayin brought some fruit of the soil as an offering to Adonoy.
- Genesis 4:4
and Abel, for his part, brought the choicest of the firstlings of his flock. GOD paid heed to Abel and his offering,
Targum Onkelos
Hevel also brought from the firstborn of his flock, from the best thereof. [There was favor before Adonoy] Adonoy paid regard to Hevel and to his offering.
- Genesis 4:5
but paid no heed to Cain and his offering. Cain was much distressed and his face fell.
Targum Onkelos
But to Kayin and his offering He paid no regard [there was no favor]. Kayin became very angry and depressed.
- Genesis 4:6
And GOD said to Cain, “Why are you distressed, And why is your face fallen?

Adonoy said to Kayin, Why are you angry? Why are you depressed?
- Genesis 4:7
Surely, if you do right, There is uplift. But if you do not do right Sin couches at the door; Its urge is toward you, Yet you can be its master.”
Targum Onkelos
Is this not so—if you improve [your actions], there is forgiveness [for you], but if you do not improve [your actions], sin rests at the opening [your sin will be kept for the Day of Judgement]. Its desire is unto you, but you can dominate it. [For in the future, it will be exacted from you if you do not repent. And if you repent, there is forgiveness.]
- Genesis 4:8

Targum Onkelos

Therefore, you shall be more cursed than the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
Targum Onkelos
Now you are cursed from the ground that had to open its mouth to accept your brother’s blood from your hand.
- Genesis 4:12
If you till the soil, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. You shall become a ceaseless wanderer on earth.”

Since You have banished me this day from the soil, and I must avoid Your presence and become a restless wanderer on earth—anyone who meets me may kill me!”
Targum Onkelos
