- Leviticus 4:1
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהֹוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר׃
GOD spoke to Moses, saying:
Targum Onkelos
וּמַלֵּיל יְיָ עִם מֹשֶׁה לְמֵימַר׃
And Adonoy spoke to Moshe, saying:
- Leviticus 4:2
דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר נֶפֶשׁ כִּי־תֶחֱטָא בִשְׁגָגָה מִכֹּל מִצְוֺת יְהֹוָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא תֵעָשֶׂינָה וְעָשָׂה מֵאַחַת מֵהֵנָּה׃
Speak to the Israelite people thus: When a person unwittingly incurs guilt in regard to any of GOD’s commandments about things not to be done, and does one of them—
Targum Onkelos
מַלֵּיל עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְמֵימַר אֲנָשׁ אֲרֵי יְחוּב בְּשָׁלוּ מִכֹּל פִּקּוֹדַיָּא דַּייָ דְּלָא כָשְׁרִין לְאִתְעֲבָדָא וְיַעֲבֵיד מִן חַד מִנְּהוֹן׃
Speak to Bnei Yisroel, saying; if a person unwittingly transgresses any commandment of Adonoy which should [is] not [fitting to] be done and commits one of these sins.
- Leviticus 4:3
אִם הַכֹּהֵן הַמָּשִׁיחַ יֶחֱטָא לְאַשְׁמַת הָעָם וְהִקְרִיב עַל חַטָּאתוֹ אֲשֶׁר חָטָא פַּר בֶּן־בָּקָר תָּמִים לַיהֹוָה לְחַטָּאת׃
If it is the anointed priest who has incurred guilt, so that blame falls upon the people, he shall offer for the sin of which he is guilty a bull of the herd without blemish as a purgation offering to GOD.
Targum Onkelos
אִם כָּהֲנָא רַבָּא יְחוּב לְחוֹבַת עַמָּא וִיקָרֵיב עַל חוֹבְתֵיהּ דְּחָב תּוֹר בַּר תּוֹרֵי שְׁלִים קֳדָם יְיָ לְחַטָּתָא׃
If the anointed kohein [gadol] should sin to bring guilt on the people, he shall bring for his sin which he committed a young, unblemished bullock to [before] Adonoy, as a sin-offering.
- Leviticus 4:4
וְהֵבִיא אֶת־הַפָּר אֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה וְסָמַךְ אֶת־יָדוֹ עַל־רֹאשׁ הַפָּר וְשָׁחַט אֶת־הַפָּר לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה׃
He shall bring the bull to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, before GOD, and lay his hand upon the head of the bull. The bull shall be slaughtered before GOD,
Targum Onkelos
וְיַיְתֵי יָת תּוֹרָא לִתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא לִקְדָם יְיָ וְיִסְמוֹךְ יָת יְדֵיהּ עַל רֵישׁ תּוֹרָא וְיִכּוֹס יָת תּוֹרָא קֳדָם יְיָ׃
He shall bring the bullock to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting before Adonoy. He shall lay his hand on the head of the bullock and slaughter the bullock before Adonoy.
- Leviticus 4:5
וְלָקַח הַכֹּהֵן הַמָּשִׁיחַ מִדַּם הַפָּר וְהֵבִיא אֹתוֹ אֶל־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד׃
and the anointed priest shall take some of the bull’s blood and bring it into the Tent of Meeting.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִסַּב כָּהֲנָא רַבָּא מִדְּמָא דְּתוֹרָא וְיַעֵיל יָתֵיהּ לְמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא׃
The anointed kohein [gadol] shall take some of the bullocks blood and bring it inside the Tent of Meeting.
- Leviticus 4:6
וְטָבַל הַכֹּהֵן אֶת־אֶצְבָּעוֹ בַּדָּם וְהִזָּה מִן־הַדָּם שֶׁבַע פְּעָמִים לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה אֶת־פְּנֵי פָּרֹכֶת הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃
The priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before GOD, in front of the curtain of the Shrine.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִטְבּוֹל כָּהֲנָא יָת אֶצְבְּעֵיהּ בִּדְמָא וְיַדֵּי מִן דְּמָא שְׁבַע זִמְנִין קֳדָם יְיָ קֳדָם פָרוּכְתָּא דְּקוּדְשָׁא׃
The kohein shall dip his finger into the blood and he shall sprinkle from the blood seven times, before Adonoy, in front of the Holy Curtain.
- Leviticus 4:7
וְנָתַן הַכֹּהֵן מִן־הַדָּם עַל־קַרְנוֹת מִזְבַּח קְטֹרֶת הַסַּמִּים לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה אֲשֶׁר בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְאֵת ׀ כׇּל־דַּם הַפָּר יִשְׁפֹּךְ אֶל־יְסוֹד מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה אֲשֶׁר־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד׃
The priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of aromatic incense, which is in the Tent of Meeting, before GOD; and all the rest of the bull’s blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִתֵּין כָּהֲנָא מִן דְּמָא עַל קַרְנָת מַדְבַּח קְטוֹרַת בֻּסְמַיָּא קֳדָם יְיָ דִּבְמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וְיָת כָּל דְּמָא דְּתוֹרָא יִשְׁפּוֹךְ לִיסוֹדָא דְּמַדְבְּחָא דַּעֲלָתָא דְּבִתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא׃
The kohein shall put from the blood atop the corners of the spice-burning altar before Adonoy, which is inside the Tent of Meeting. He shall spill all the [remaining] bullocks blood into the base of the altar of the burnt-offering, which is at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.
- Leviticus 4:8
וְאֶת־כׇּל־חֵלֶב פַּר הַחַטָּאת יָרִים מִמֶּנּוּ אֶת־הַחֵלֶב הַמְכַסֶּה עַל־הַקֶּרֶב וְאֵת כׇּל־הַחֵלֶב אֲשֶׁר עַל־הַקֶּרֶב׃
He shall remove all the fat from the bull of purgation offering: the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is about the entrails;
Targum Onkelos
וְיָת כָּל תְּרַב תּוֹרָא דְּחַטָּתָא יַפְרֵישׁ מִנֵּיהּ יָת תַּרְבָּא דְּחָפֵי עַל גַּוָּא וְיָת כָּל תַּרְבָּא דְּעַל גַּוָּא׃
All the fat of the sin-offering bullock he shall separate from it; the fat covering the innards, all the fat on the innards,
- Leviticus 4:9
וְאֵת שְׁתֵּי הַכְּלָיֹת וְאֶת־הַחֵלֶב אֲשֶׁר עֲלֵיהֶן אֲשֶׁר עַל־הַכְּסָלִים וְאֶת־הַיֹּתֶרֶת עַל־הַכָּבֵד עַל־הַכְּלָיוֹת יְסִירֶנָּה׃
the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, that is at the loins; and the protuberance on the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys—
Targum Onkelos
וְיָת תַּרְתֵּין כּוֹלְיָן וְיָת תַּרְבָּא דַּעֲלֵיהוֹן דְּעַל גִּסְסַיָּא וְיָת חַצְרָא דְּעַל כַּבְדָּא עַל כּוֹלְיָתָא יַעְדֵּינַהּ׃
the two kidneys and the fat on them that are on the flanks. The lobe on the liver, he shall remove together with the kidneys,
- Leviticus 4:10
כַּאֲשֶׁר יוּרַם מִשּׁוֹר זֶבַח הַשְּׁלָמִים וְהִקְטִירָם הַכֹּהֵן עַל מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה׃
just as it is removed from the ox of the sacrifice of well-being. The priest shall turn them into smoke on the altar of burnt offering.
Targum Onkelos
כְּמָא דְּמִתַּפְרַשׁ מִתּוֹר נִכְסַת קוּדְשַׁיָּא וְיַסֵּיקִנּוּן כָּהֲנָא עַל מַדְבְּחָא דַּעֲלָתָא׃
in the same manner as they were separated from the ox of the peace[sacred]-offering. The kohein shall burn them on the altar of the burnt-offering.
- Leviticus 4:11
וְאֶת־עוֹר הַפָּר וְאֶת־כׇּל־בְּשָׂרוֹ עַל־רֹאשׁוֹ וְעַל־כְּרָעָיו וְקִרְבּוֹ וּפִרְשׁוֹ׃
But the hide of the bull, and all its flesh, as well as its head and legs, its entrails and its dung—
Targum Onkelos
וְיָת מְשַׁךְ תּוֹרָא וְיָת כָּל בִּסְרֵיהּ עַל רֵישֵׁיהּ וְעַל כְּרָעוֹהִי וְגַוֵּיהּ וְאוּכְלֵיהּ׃
The bullocks skin, all its flesh with its head and feet, its innards and its waste [that is in its intestines].
- Leviticus 4:12
וְהוֹצִיא אֶת־כׇּל־הַפָּר אֶל־מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה אֶל־מָקוֹם טָהוֹר אֶל־שֶׁפֶךְ הַדֶּשֶׁן וְשָׂרַף אֹתוֹ עַל־עֵצִים בָּאֵשׁ עַל־שֶׁפֶךְ הַדֶּשֶׁן יִשָּׂרֵף׃
all the rest of the bull—he shall carry to a pure place outside the camp, to the ash heap, and burn it up in a wood fire; it shall be burned on the ash heap.
Targum Onkelos
וְיַפֵּיק יָת כָּל תּוֹרָא לְמִבַּרָא לְמַשְׁרִיתָא לַאֲתַר דְּכֵי לַאֲתַר בֵּית מֵישַׁד קִטְמָא וְיוֹקֵיד יָתֵיהּ עַל אָעַיָּא בְּאִישָׁתָא עַל אֲתַר בֵּית מֵישַׁד קִטְמָא יִתּוֹקַד׃
He shall take out the entire bullock beyond the encampment, to a pure [undefiled] place, [to the place] where the ashes are thrown and burn it on logs, in a fire. It shall be burned [at the place] where the ashes are thrown.
- Leviticus 4:13
וְאִם כׇּל־עֲדַת יִשְׂרָאֵל יִשְׁגּוּ וְנֶעְלַם דָּבָר מֵעֵינֵי הַקָּהָל וְעָשׂוּ אַחַת מִכׇּל־מִצְוֺת יְהֹוָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא־תֵעָשֶׂינָה וְאָשֵׁמוּ׃
If it is the whole community of Israel that has erred and the matter escapes the notice of the congregation, so that they do any of the things that by GOD’s commandments ought not to be done, and they realize their guilt—
Targum Onkelos
וְאִם כָּל כְּנִשְׁתָּא דְּיִשְׂרָאֵל יִשְׁתְּלוֹן וִיהֵי מְכוּסַּא פִּתְגָמָא מֵעֵינֵי קְהָלָא וְיַעְבְּדוּן חַד מִכָּל פִּקּוֹדַיָּא דַּייָ דְּלָא כָשְׁרִין לְאִתְעֲבָדָא וִיחוּבוּן׃
If the entire congregation of Yisroel erred and the matter [that error] was concealed from the eyes of the community, and they did [transgress] one of the commandments of Adonoy that should [is] not [fitting to] be done, they incur guilt.
- Leviticus 4:14
וְנוֹדְעָה הַחַטָּאת אֲשֶׁר חָטְאוּ עָלֶיהָ וְהִקְרִיבוּ הַקָּהָל פַּר בֶּן־בָּקָר לְחַטָּאת וְהֵבִיאוּ אֹתוֹ לִפְנֵי אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד׃
when the sin through which they incurred guilt becomes known, the congregation shall offer a bull of the herd as a purgation offering, and bring it before the Tent of Meeting.
Targum Onkelos
וְתִתְיְדַע חוֹבְתָא דְּחָבוּ עֲלַהּ וִיקָרְבוּן קְהָלָא תּוֹר בַּר תּוֹרֵי לְחַטָּתָא וְיַיְתוֹן יָתֵיהּ לִקְדָם מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא׃
[When] they realize the sin which they committed, the community shall bring a young bullock as a sin-offering and they shall bring it to the front of the Tent of Meeting.
- Leviticus 4:15
וְסָמְכוּ זִקְנֵי הָעֵדָה אֶת־יְדֵיהֶם עַל־רֹאשׁ הַפָּר לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה וְשָׁחַט אֶת־הַפָּר לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה׃
The elders of the community shall lay their hands upon the head of the bull before GOD, and the bull shall be slaughtered before GOD.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִסְמְכוּן סָבֵי כְּנִשְׁתָּא יָת יְדֵיהוֹן עַל רֵישׁ תּוֹרָא קֳדָם יְיָ וְיִכּוֹס יָת תּוֹרָא קֳדָם יְיָ׃
The elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the bullock, before Adonoy and he shall slaughter the bullock before Adonoy.
- Leviticus 4:16
וְהֵבִיא הַכֹּהֵן הַמָּשִׁיחַ מִדַּם הַפָּר אֶל־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד׃
The anointed priest shall bring some of the blood of the bull into the Tent of Meeting,
Targum Onkelos
וְיַעֵיל כָּהֲנָא רַבָּא מִדְּמָא דְּתוֹרָא לְמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא׃
The anointed kohein [gadol] shall bring some of the bullocks blood inside the Tent of Meeting.
- Leviticus 4:17
וְטָבַל הַכֹּהֵן אֶצְבָּעוֹ מִן־הַדָּם וְהִזָּה שֶׁבַע פְּעָמִים לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה אֵת פְּנֵי הַפָּרֹכֶת׃

וְאֵת כׇּל־חֶלְבּוֹ יָרִים מִמֶּנּוּ וְהִקְטִיר הַמִּזְבֵּחָה׃
He shall remove all its fat and turn it into smoke on the altar.
Targum Onkelos
וְיָת כָּל תַּרְבֵּיהּ יַפְרֵישׁ מִנֵּיהּ וְיַסֵּיק לְמַדְבְּחָא׃
He shall remove all its fat from it and burn it on the altar.
- Leviticus 4:20
וְעָשָׂה לַפָּר כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לְפַר הַחַטָּאת כֵּן יַעֲשֶׂה־לּוֹ וְכִפֶּר עֲלֵהֶם הַכֹּהֵן וְנִסְלַח לָהֶם׃
He shall do with this bull just as is done with the [priest’s] bull of purgation offering; he shall do the same with it. Thus the priest shall make expiation on behalf of the offerers—who shall then be forgiven.
Targum Onkelos
וְיַעֲבֵיד לְתוֹרָא כְּמָא דַּעֲבַד לְתוֹרָא דְּחַטָּתָא כֵּן יַעֲבֵיד לֵיהּ וִיכַפַּר עֲלֵיהוֹן כָּהֲנָא וְיִשְׁתְּבֵיק לְהוֹן׃
He shall do to the bullock [the same] as he did to the sin-offering bullock, so he shall do to it. The kohein will atone for them and they will be pardoned.
- Leviticus 4:21
וְהוֹצִיא אֶת־הַפָּר אֶל־מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה וְשָׂרַף אֹתוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר שָׂרַף אֵת הַפָּר הָרִאשׁוֹן חַטַּאת הַקָּהָל הוּא׃
He shall carry the bull outside the camp and burn it as he burned the first bull; it is the purgation offering of the congregation.
Targum Onkelos
וְיַפֵּיק יָת תּוֹרָא לְמִבַּרָא לְמַשְׁרִיתָא וְיוֹקֵיד יָתֵיהּ כְּמָא דְּאוֹקֵיד יָת תּוֹרָא קַדְמָאָה חַטַּת קְהָלָא הוּא׃
He shall take the bullock outside, beyond the encampment, and burn it in the same manner as he burned the first bullock; it is a communal sin-offering.
- Leviticus 4:22
אֲשֶׁר נָשִׂיא יֶחֱטָא וְעָשָׂה אַחַת מִכׇּל־מִצְוֺת יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהָיו אֲשֶׁר לֹא־תֵעָשֶׂינָה בִּשְׁגָגָה וְאָשֵׁם׃
In case it is a chieftain who incurs guilt by doing unwittingly any of the things that by the commandment of the ETERNAL his God ought not to be done, and he realizes his guilt—
Targum Onkelos
אִם רַבָּא יְחוּב וְיַעֲבֵיד חַד מִכָּל פִּקּוֹדַיָּא דַּייָ אֱלָהֵיהּ דְּלָא כָשְׁרִין לְאִתְעֲבָדָא בְּשָׁלוּ וִיחוּב׃
If a leader sins, [who] transgresses one of the commandments of Adonoy, his God, that should [is] not [fitting to] be done, [if he transgressed] unwittingly and incurs guilt.
- Leviticus 4:23
אוֹ־הוֹדַע אֵלָיו חַטָּאתוֹ אֲשֶׁר חָטָא בָּהּ וְהֵבִיא אֶת־קׇרְבָּנוֹ שְׂעִיר עִזִּים זָכָר תָּמִים׃
or the sin of which he is guilty is made known—he shall bring as his offering a male goat without blemish.
Targum Onkelos
אוֹ אִתְיְדַע לֵיהּ חוֹבְתֵיהּ דְּחָב בַּהּ וְיַיְתֵי יָת קוּרְבָּנֵיהּ צְפִיר בַּר עִזִּין דְּכַר שְׁלִים׃
Or, [if his sin] becomes known to him—[that] which he committed. He shall bring as his offering an unblemished, male goat.
- Leviticus 4:24
וְסָמַךְ יָדוֹ עַל־רֹאשׁ הַשָּׂעִיר וְשָׁחַט אֹתוֹ בִּמְקוֹם אֲשֶׁר־יִשְׁחַט אֶת־הָעֹלָה לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה חַטָּאת הוּא׃
He shall lay his hand upon the goat’s head, and it shall be slaughtered at the spot where the burnt offering is slaughtered before GOD; it is a purgation offering.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִסְמוֹךְ יְדֵיהּ עַל רֵישׁ צְפִירָא וְיִכּוֹס יָתֵיהּ בְּאַתְרָא דְּיִכּוֹס יָת עֲלָתָא קֳדָם יְיָ חַטָּתָא הוּא׃
He shall lay his hand on the goats head and slaughter it in the place where the burnt-offering is slaughtered, before Adonoy; it is a sin-offering.
- Leviticus 4:25
וְלָקַח הַכֹּהֵן מִדַּם הַחַטָּאת בְּאֶצְבָּעוֹ וְנָתַן עַל־קַרְנֹת מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה וְאֶת־דָּמוֹ יִשְׁפֹּךְ אֶל־יְסוֹד מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה׃
The priest shall take with his finger some of the blood of the purgation offering and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִסַּב כָּהֲנָא מִדְּמָא דְּחַטָּתָא בְּאֶצְבְּעֵיהּ וְיִתֵּין עַל קַרְנָת מַדְבְּחָא דַּעֲלָתָא וְיָת דְּמֵיהּ יִשְׁפּוֹךְ לִיסוֹדָא דְּמַדְבְּחָא דַּעֲלָתָא׃
