- Genesis 8:15
וַיְדַבֵּר אֱלֹהִים אֶל־נֹחַ לֵאמֹר׃
God spoke to Noah, saying,
Targum Onkelos
וּמַלֵּיל יְיָ עִם נֹחַ לְמֵימַר׃
Elohim spoke to [with] Noach, saying,
- Genesis 8:16
צֵא מִן־הַתֵּבָה אַתָּה וְאִשְׁתְּךָ וּבָנֶיךָ וּנְשֵׁי־בָנֶיךָ אִתָּךְ׃
“Come out of the ark, together with your wife, your sons, and your sons’ wives.
Targum Onkelos
פּוֹק מִן תֵּיבְתָא אַתְּ וְאִתְּתָךְ וּבְנָךְ וּנְשֵׁי בְנָךְ עִמָּךְ׃
Depart from the ark, yourself and your wife, your sons, and your son’s wives with you.

כׇּל־הַחַיָּה אֲשֶׁר־אִתְּךָ מִכׇּל־בָּשָׂר בָּעוֹף וּבַבְּהֵמָה וּבְכׇל־הָרֶמֶשׂ הָרֹמֵשׂ עַל־הָאָרֶץ (הוצא) [הַיְצֵא] אִתָּךְ וְשָׁרְצוּ בָאָרֶץ וּפָרוּ וְרָבוּ עַל־הָאָרֶץ׃
Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you: birds, animals, and everything that creeps on earth; and let them swarm on the earth and be fertile and increase on earth.”
Targum Onkelos
כָּל חַיְתָא דְּעִמָּךְ מִכָּל בִּסְרָא בְּעוֹפָא וּבִבְעִירָא וּבְכָל רִחְשָׁא דְּרָחֵישׁ עַל אַרְעָא אַפֵּיק עִמָּךְ וְיִתְיַלְּדוּן בְּאַרְעָא וְיִפְּשׁוּן וְיִסְגּוֹן עַל אַרְעָא׃
Every living thing that is with you, of all flesh, [including] birds, animals, every creeping creature that creeps on the earth, let them depart with you. Let them spread over the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.
- Genesis 8:18
וַיֵּצֵא־נֹחַ וּבָנָיו וְאִשְׁתּוֹ וּנְשֵׁי־בָנָיו אִתּוֹ׃
So Noah came out, together with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives.
Targum Onkelos
וּנְפַק נֹחַ וּבְנוֹהִי וְאִתְּתֵיהּ וּנְשֵׁי בְנוֹהִי עִמֵּיהּ׃
Noach departed [from the ark together with] his sons, his wife and son’s wives.
- Genesis 8:19
כׇּל־הַחַיָּה כׇּל־הָרֶמֶשׂ וְכׇל־הָעוֹף כֹּל רוֹמֵשׂ עַל־הָאָרֶץ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתֵיהֶם יָצְאוּ מִן־הַתֵּבָה׃
Every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that stirs on earth came out of the ark by families.
Targum Onkelos
כָּל חַיְתָא כָּל רִחְשָׁא וְכָל עוֹפָא כֹּל דְּרָחֵישׁ עַל אַרְעָא לְזַרְעֲיָתְהוֹן נְפַקוּ מִן תֵּיבְתָא׃
Every living thing, every creeping creature, every bird, everything that creeps on the earth, departed from the ark according to their families.
- Genesis 8:20
וַיִּבֶן נֹחַ מִזְבֵּחַ לַיהֹוָה וַיִּקַּח מִכֹּל ׀ הַבְּהֵמָה הַטְּהֹרָה וּמִכֹּל הָעוֹף הַטָּהוֹר וַיַּעַל עֹלֹת בַּמִּזְבֵּחַ׃
Then Noah built an altar to GOD and, taking of every pure animal and of every pure bird, he offered burnt offerings on the altar.
Targum Onkelos
וּבְנָא נֹחַ מַדְבְּחָא קֳדָם יְיָ וּנְסֵיב מִכֹּל בְּעִירָא דָּכְיָא וּמִכֹּל עוֹפָא דְּכֵי וְאַסֵּיק עֲלָוָון עַל מַדְבְּחָא׃
Noach built an altar to [before] Adonoy, and took of every [ritually] clean animal and of every [ritually] clean bird, and brought up burnt-offerings on the altar.
- Genesis 8:21
וַיָּרַח יְהֹוָה אֶת־רֵיחַ הַנִּיחֹחַ וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה אֶל־לִבּוֹ לֹא־אֹסִף לְקַלֵּל עוֹד אֶת־הָאֲדָמָה בַּעֲבוּר הָאָדָם כִּי יֵצֶר לֵב הָאָדָם רַע מִנְּעֻרָיו וְלֹא־אֹסִף עוֹד לְהַכּוֹת אֶת־כׇּל־חַי כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי׃
GOD smelled the pleasing odor, and GOD resolved: “Never again will I doom the earth because of humankind, since the devisings of the human mind are evil from youth; nor will I ever again destroy every living being, as I have done.
Targum Onkelos
וְקַבֵּיל יְיָ בְּרַעֲוָא יָת קוּרְבָּנֵיהּ וַאֲמַר יְיָ בְּמֵימְרֵיהּ לָא אוֹסֵיף לִמְלָט עוֹד יָת אַרְעָא בְּדִיל חוֹבֵי אֲנָשָׁא אֲרֵי יִצְרָא לִבָּא דַּאֲנָשָׁא בִּישׁ מִזְּעוּרֵיהּ וְלָא אוֹסֵיף עוֹד לְמִמְחֵי יָת כָּל דְּחַי כְּמָא דַּעֲבַדִית׃
Adonoy smelled the pleasing fragrance, [Adonoy accepted his offering with favor] and Adonoy said in His heart [with his Word], Never again will I curse the ground because of [the sins of] man, for the inclination of man’s heart is evil from [the time of] his youth. I will never again smite every living thing as I have done.
- Genesis 8:22
עֹד כׇּל־יְמֵי הָאָרֶץ זֶרַע וְקָצִיר וְקֹר וָחֹם וְקַיִץ וָחֹרֶף וְיוֹם וָלַיְלָה לֹא יִשְׁבֹּתוּ׃
So long as the earth endures, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Summer and winter, Day and night Shall not cease.”
Targum Onkelos
עוֹד כָּל יוֹמֵי אַרְעָא זְרוּעָא וּחְצָדָא וְקוֹרָא וְחוֹמָא וְקֵיטָא וְסִתְוָא וְיֵימָם וְלֵילֵי לָא יִבְטְלוּן׃
So long as the earth exists, seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, will never be suspended.
- Genesis 9:1
וַיְבָרֶךְ אֱלֹהִים אֶת־נֹחַ וְאֶת־בָּנָיו וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם פְּרוּ וּרְבוּ וּמִלְאוּ אֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃
God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, “Be fertile and increase, and fill the earth.
Targum Onkelos
וּבָרֵיךְ יְיָ יָת נֹחַ וְיָת בְּנוֹהִי וַאֲמַר לְהוֹן פּוּשׁוּ וּסְגוֹ וּמְלוֹ יָת אַרְעָא׃
Elohim blessed Noach and his sons. He said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
- Genesis 9:2
וּמוֹרַאֲכֶם וְחִתְּכֶם יִהְיֶה עַל כׇּל־חַיַּת הָאָרֶץ וְעַל כׇּל־עוֹף הַשָּׁמָיִם בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר תִּרְמֹשׂ הָאֲדָמָה וּבְכׇל־דְּגֵי הַיָּם בְּיֶדְכֶם נִתָּנוּ׃
The fear and the dread of you shall be upon all the animals of the earth and upon all the birds of the sky—everything with which the earth is astir—and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hand.
Targum Onkelos
וְדַחְלַתְכוֹן וְאֵימַתְכוֹן תְּהֵי עַל כָּל חַיַּת אַרְעָא וְעַל כָּל עוֹפָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא בְּכֹל דְּתַרְחֵישׁ אַרְעָא וּבְכָל נוּנֵי יַמָּא בְּיַדְכוֹן מְסִירִין׃
Your fear and terror will be upon every wild beast of the earth, and upon every bird in the heavens. All that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, are given into your hands.
- Genesis 9:3
כׇּל־רֶמֶשׂ אֲשֶׁר הוּא־חַי לָכֶם יִהְיֶה לְאׇכְלָה כְּיֶרֶק עֵשֶׂב נָתַתִּי לָכֶם אֶת־כֹּל׃
Every creature that lives shall be yours to eat; as with the green grasses, I give you all these.
Targum Onkelos
כָּל רִחְשָׁא דְּהוּא חַי לְכוֹן יְהֵי לְמֵיכַל כְּיָרוֹק עִסְבָּא יְהַבִית לְכוֹן יָת כּוֹלָא׃
Every moving creature that lives, shall be yours for food; like the green vegetation [which I gave previously] I have [now] given you everything [for food].
- Genesis 9:4
אַךְ־בָּשָׂר בְּנַפְשׁוֹ דָמוֹ לֹא תֹאכֵלוּ׃
You must not, however, eat flesh with its life-blood in it.
Targum Onkelos
בְּרַם בִּסְרָא בְּנַפְשֵׁיהּ דְּמֵיהּ לָא תֵּיכְלוּן׃
Nevertheless, flesh with its lifeblood, you shall not eat.
- Genesis 9:5
וְאַךְ אֶת־דִּמְכֶם לְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם אֶדְרֹשׁ מִיַּד כׇּל־חַיָּה אֶדְרְשֶׁנּוּ וּמִיַּד הָאָדָם מִיַּד אִישׁ אָחִיו אֶדְרֹשׁ אֶת־נֶפֶשׁ הָאָדָם׃
But for your own life-blood I will require a reckoning: I will require it of every animal; of humankind, too, will I require a reckoning for human life, of everyone for each other!
Targum Onkelos
וּבְרַם יָת דִּמְכוֹן לְנַפְשָׁתְכוֹן אֶתְבַּע מִיַּד כָּל חַיְתָא אֶתְבְּעִנֵּיהּ וּמִיַּד אֲנָשָׁא מִיַּד גְּבַר דְּיֵישׁוֹד יָת דְּמָא דַּאֲחוּהִי אֶתְבַּע יָת נַפְשָׁא דַּאֲנָשָׁא׃
However, of the blood of your souls, I will demand an account; from the hand of every beast will I demand it. From the hand of man, even from the hand of man’s own brother, [from the hand of a man who spills his brother’s blood,] will I demand an account of man’s soul.
- Genesis 9:6
שֹׁפֵךְ דַּם הָאָדָם בָּאָדָם דָּמוֹ יִשָּׁפֵךְ כִּי בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים עָשָׂה אֶת־הָאָדָם׃
Whoever sheds human blood, By human [hands] shall their blood be shed; For in the image of God Was humankind made.
Targum Onkelos
דְּיֵישׁוֹד דְּמָא דַּאֲנָשָׁא בְּסָהֲדִין עַל מֵימַר דַּיָּינַיָּא דְּמֵיהּ יִתְאֲשַׁד אֲרֵי בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים עֲבַד יָת אֲנָשָׁא׃
He who spills the blood of man, through man shall his blood be spilled, [by witnesses according to the word of judges shall his blood be spilled,] for in the image of Elohim, He made man.
- Genesis 9:7
וְאַתֶּם פְּרוּ וּרְבוּ שִׁרְצוּ בָאָרֶץ וּרְבוּ־בָהּ׃
Be fertile, then, and increase; abound on the earth and increase on it.”
Targum Onkelos
וְאַתּוּן פּוּשׁוּ וּסְגוֹ אִתְיַלַּדוּ בְּאַרְעָא וּסְגוֹ בַּהּ׃
And now be fruitful and multiply, spread throughout the earth and multiply on it.
