- Genesis 7:1
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה לְנֹחַ בֹּא־אַתָּה וְכׇל־בֵּיתְךָ אֶל־הַתֵּבָה כִּי־אֹתְךָ רָאִיתִי צַדִּיק לְפָנַי בַּדּוֹר הַזֶּה׃
Then GOD said to Noah, “Go into the ark, with all your household, for you alone have I found righteous before Me in this generation.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ לְנֹחַ עוֹל אַתְּ וְכָל אֲנָשׁ בֵּיתָךְ לְתֵיבְתָא אֲרֵי יָתָךְ חֲזֵיתִי זַכַּאי קֳדָמַי בְּדָרָא הָדֵין׃
Adonoy said to Noach, Come into the ark, you and your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before Me, in this generation.
- Genesis 7:2
מִכֹּל ׀ הַבְּהֵמָה הַטְּהוֹרָה תִּקַּח־לְךָ שִׁבְעָה שִׁבְעָה אִישׁ וְאִשְׁתּוֹ וּמִן־הַבְּהֵמָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא טְהֹרָה הִוא שְׁנַיִם אִישׁ וְאִשְׁתּוֹ׃
Of every pure animal you shall take seven pairs, male and female mates, and of every animal that is not pure, two, male and female mates;
Targum Onkelos
מִכֹּל בְּעִירָא דָּכְיָא תִּסַּב לָךְ שִׁבְעָה שִׁבְעָה דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא וּמִן בְּעִירָא דְּלָיְתַהָא דָּכְיָא תְּרֵין דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא׃
Of every [ritually] clean animal, take to yourself seven pairs, male and its mate [female]. Of every animal that is not clean, [take] two, the male and its mate [female].
- Genesis 7:3
גַּם מֵעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם שִׁבְעָה שִׁבְעָה זָכָר וּנְקֵבָה לְחַיּוֹת זֶרַע עַל־פְּנֵי כׇל־הָאָרֶץ׃
of the birds of the sky also, seven pairs, male and female, to keep seed alive upon all the earth.
Targum Onkelos
אַף מֵעוֹפָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא שִׁבְעָה שִׁבְעָה דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא לְקַיָּימָא זַרְעָא עַל אַפֵּי כָּל אַרְעָא׃
Also of the birds of the heaven, [take] seven pairs, male and female; to keep seed alive upon the face of the earth.
- Genesis 7:4
כִּי לְיָמִים עוֹד שִׁבְעָה אָנֹכִי מַמְטִיר עַל־הָאָרֶץ אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם וְאַרְבָּעִים לָיְלָה וּמָחִיתִי אֶת־כׇּל־הַיְקוּם אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי מֵעַל פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה׃
For in seven days’ time I will make it rain upon the earth, forty days and forty nights, and I will blot out from the earth all existence that I created.”
Targum Onkelos
אֲרֵי לִזְמַן יוֹמִין עוֹד שִׁבְעָה אֲנָא מַחֵית מִטְרָא עַל אַרְעָא אַרְבְּעִין יְמָמִין וְאַרְבְּעִין לֵילָוָן וְאֶמְחֵי יָת כָל יְקוּמָא דַּעֲבַדִית מֵעַל אַפֵּי אַרְעָא׃
Because in another [at the completion of another] seven days I will bring rain [I will cause rain to descend] on the earth [and it will rain] forty days and forty nights, and I will obliterate every living substance that I have made, from the face of the earth.
- Genesis 7:5
וַיַּעַשׂ נֹחַ כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהוּ יְהֹוָה׃
And Noah did just as GOD commanded him.
Targum Onkelos
וַעֲבַד נֹחַ כְּכֹל דְּפַקְּדֵיהּ יְיָ׃
Noach did all that Adonoy commanded him.
- Genesis 7:6
וְנֹחַ בֶּן־שֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת שָׁנָה וְהַמַּבּוּל הָיָה מַיִם עַל־הָאָרֶץ׃
Noah was six hundred years old when the Flood came, waters upon the earth.
Targum Onkelos
וְנֹחַ בַּר שֵׁית מְאָה שְׁנִין וְטוֹפָנָא הֲוָה מַיָּא עַל אַרְעָא׃
Noach was six hundred years old when the flood waters were on the earth.
- Genesis 7:7
וַיָּבֹא נֹחַ וּבָנָיו וְאִשְׁתּוֹ וּנְשֵׁי־בָנָיו אִתּוֹ אֶל־הַתֵּבָה מִפְּנֵי מֵי הַמַּבּוּל׃
Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the Flood.
Targum Onkelos
וְעָאל נֹחַ וּבְנוֹהִי וְאִתְּתֵיהּ וּנְשֵׁי בְנוֹהִי עִמֵּיהּ לְתֵיבְתָא מִן קֳדָם מֵי טוֹפָנָא׃
Noach went in, and his sons, his wife, and his son’s wives, with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the Flood.
- Genesis 7:8
מִן־הַבְּהֵמָה הַטְּהוֹרָה וּמִן־הַבְּהֵמָה אֲשֶׁר אֵינֶנָּה טְהֹרָה וּמִן־הָעוֹף וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־רֹמֵשׂ עַל־הָאֲדָמָה׃
Of the pure animals, of the animals that are not pure, of the birds, and of everything that creeps on the ground,
Targum Onkelos
מִן בְּעִירָא דָּכְיָא וּמִן בְּעִירָא דְּלָיְתַהָא דָּכְיָא וּמִן עוֹפָא וְכֹל דְּרָחֵישׁ עַל אַרְעָא׃
Of the [ritually] clean animals, and the animals that are not [ritually] clean, of the birds, and of every thing that creeps on the earth.
- Genesis 7:9
שְׁנַיִם שְׁנַיִם בָּאוּ אֶל־נֹחַ אֶל־הַתֵּבָה זָכָר וּנְקֵבָה כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה אֱלֹהִים אֶת־נֹחַ׃
two of each, male and female, came to Noah into the ark, as God had commanded Noah.
Targum Onkelos
תְּרֵין תְּרֵין עָאלוּ עִם נֹחַ לְתֵיבְתָא דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא כְּמָא דְּפַקֵּיד יְיָ יָת נֹחַ׃
Two by two they came to Noach into the ark, male and female, as Elohim had commanded Noach.
- Genesis 7:10
וַיְהִי לְשִׁבְעַת הַיָּמִים וּמֵי הַמַּבּוּל הָיוּ עַל־הָאָרֶץ׃
And on the seventh day the waters of the Flood came upon the earth.
Targum Onkelos
וַהֲוָה לִזְמַן שִׁבְעָא יוֹמִין וּמֵי טוֹפָנָא הֲווֹ עַל אַרְעָא׃
Seven [complete] days had passed, and the flood waters were on the earth.
- Genesis 7:11
בִּשְׁנַת שֵׁשׁ־מֵאוֹת שָׁנָה לְחַיֵּי־נֹחַ בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִי בְּשִׁבְעָה־עָשָׂר יוֹם לַחֹדֶשׁ בַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה נִבְקְעוּ כׇּל־מַעְיְנֹת תְּהוֹם רַבָּה וַאֲרֻבֹּת הַשָּׁמַיִם נִפְתָּחוּ׃
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day All the fountains of the great deep burst apart, And the floodgates of the sky broke open.
Targum Onkelos
בִּשְׁנַת שֵׁית מְאָה שְׁנִין לְחַיֵּי נֹחַ בְּיַרְחָא תִּנְיָנָא בְּשִׁבְעַת עַסְרָא יוֹמָא לְיַרְחָא בְּיוֹמָא הָדֵין אִתְבְּזַעוּ כָּל מַבּוּעֵי תְּהוֹם רַבָּא וְכַוֵּי דִּשְׁמַיָּא אִתְפְּתַחָא׃
In the six hundredth year of Noach’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day, all the wellsprings of the great deep, burst open, and the windows of the heavens were opened.
- Genesis 7:12
וַיְהִי הַגֶּשֶׁם עַל־הָאָרֶץ אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם וְאַרְבָּעִים לָיְלָה׃
(The rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.)
Targum Onkelos
וַהֲוָה מִטְרָא נָחֵית עַל אַרְעָא אַרְבְּעִין יְמָמִין וְאַרְבְּעִין לֵילָוָן׃
There was rain [descending] on the earth forty days and forty nights.
- Genesis 7:13
בְּעֶצֶם הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה בָּא נֹחַ וְשֵׁם־וְחָם וָיֶפֶת בְּנֵי־נֹחַ וְאֵשֶׁת נֹחַ וּשְׁלֹשֶׁת נְשֵׁי־בָנָיו אִתָּם אֶל־הַתֵּבָה׃
That same day Noah and Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, went into the ark, with Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons—
Targum Onkelos
בִּכְרַן יוֹמָא הָדֵין עָאל נֹחַ וְשֵׁם וְחָם וָיֶפֶת בְּנֵי נֹחַ וְאִתַּת נֹחַ וּתְלָת נְשֵׁי בְּנוֹהִי עִמְּהוֹן לְתֵיבְתָא׃
On that very day, Noach came along with Sheim, Cham, and Yafes, the sons of Noach; Noach’s wife and the three wives of his sons, with them, into the ark.
- Genesis 7:14
הֵמָּה וְכׇל־הַחַיָּה לְמִינָהּ וְכׇל־הַבְּהֵמָה לְמִינָהּ וְכׇל־הָרֶמֶשׂ הָרֹמֵשׂ עַל־הָאָרֶץ לְמִינֵהוּ וְכׇל־הָעוֹף לְמִינֵהוּ כֹּל צִפּוֹר כׇּל־כָּנָף׃
they and all beasts of every kind, all cattle of every kind, all creatures of every kind that creep on the earth, and all birds of every kind, every bird, every winged thing.
Targum Onkelos
אִנּוּן וְכָל חַיְתָא לִזְנַהּ וְכָל בְּעִירָא לִזְנַהּ וְכָל רִחְשָׁא דְּרָחֵישׁ עַל אַרְעָא לִזְנוֹהִי וְכָל עוֹפָא לִזְנוֹהִי כֹּל צִפַּר כָּל דְּפָרַח׃
They, and every beast of its kind, and every animal of its kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth of its kind; and every flying creature of its kind, every bird, every winged creature [every one that flies].
- Genesis 7:15
וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל־נֹחַ אֶל־הַתֵּבָה שְׁנַיִם שְׁנַיִם מִכׇּל־הַבָּשָׂר אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ רוּחַ חַיִּים׃
They came to Noah into the ark, two each of all flesh in which there was breath of life.
Targum Onkelos
וְעָאלוּ עִם נֹחַ לְתֵיבְתָא תְּרֵין תְּרֵין מִכָּל בִּסְרָא דְּבֵיהּ רוּחָא דְּחַיֵּי׃
They came to [with] Noach, to the ark, two by two of all the flesh in which there was a breath of life.
- Genesis 7:16
וְהַבָּאִים זָכָר וּנְקֵבָה מִכׇּל־בָּשָׂר בָּאוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה אֹתוֹ אֱלֹהִים וַיִּסְגֹּר יְהֹוָה בַּעֲדוֹ׃
Thus they that entered comprised male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him. And GOD shut him in.
Targum Onkelos
וְעָאלַיָּא דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא מִכָּל בִּסְרָא עָאלוּ כְּמָא דְּפַקֵּיד יָתֵיהּ יְיָ וְאַגֵּין יְיָ בְּמֵימְרֵיהּ עֲלוֹהִי׃
Those that came were male and female, of all flesh they came, as Elohim had commanded him. Adonoy then [protectively] shut him in [the ark.] [Adonoy protected him.]
