- Numbers 16:14
אַף לֹא אֶל־אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבַשׁ הֲבִיאֹתָנוּ וַתִּתֶּן־לָנוּ נַחֲלַת שָׂדֶה וָכָרֶם הַעֵינֵי הָאֲנָשִׁים הָהֵם תְּנַקֵּר לֹא נַעֲלֶה׃
Even if you had brought us to a land flowing with milk and honey, and given us possession of fields and vineyards, should you gouge out the eyes of those involved? We will not come!”
Targum Onkelos
אַף לָא לַאֲרַע עָבְדָא חֲלָב וּדְבַשׁ אַעֵילְתַּנָא וִיהַבְתְּ לַנָא אַחְסָנַת חַקְלִין וְכַרְמִין הַעֵינֵי גּוּבְרַיָּא הָאִנּוּן תִּשְׁלַח לְעַוָּרָא לָא נִסַּק׃
Even into a land flowing with [that produces] milk and honey you have not brought us, and [not] given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards if you put those people’s eyes out, [even then] we would not go up.”
- Numbers 16:15
וַיִּחַר לְמֹשֶׁה מְאֹד וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־יְהֹוָה אַל־תֵּפֶן אֶל־מִנְחָתָם לֹא חֲמוֹר אֶחָד מֵהֶם נָשָׂאתִי וְלֹא הֲרֵעֹתִי אֶת־אַחַד מֵהֶם׃
Moses was much aggrieved and he said to GOD, “Pay no regard to their oblation. I have not taken the donkey of any one of them, nor have I wronged any one of them.”
Targum Onkelos
וּתְקֵיף לְמֹשֶׁה לַחְדָּא וַאֲמַר קֳדָם יְיָ לָא תְקַבֵּיל בְּרַעֲוָא קוּרְבָּנְהוֹן לָא חֲמָרָא דְּחַד מִנְּהוֹן שַׁחַרִית וְלָא אַבְאֵישִׁית לְחַד מִנְּהוֹן׃
Moshe was extremely distressed, and said to [before] Adonoy: “Do not turn to [accept] their offering [with pleasure]; not a donkey did I sequester from any one of them nor have I done ill to any one of them.”
- Numbers 16:16
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל־קֹרַח אַתָּה וְכׇל־עֲדָתְךָ הֱיוּ לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה אַתָּה וָהֵם וְאַהֲרֹן מָחָר׃
And Moses said to Korah, “Tomorrow, you and all your company appear before GOD, you and they and Aaron.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר מֹשֶׁה לְקֹרַח אַתְּ וְכָל כְּנִשְׁתָּךְ הֲווֹ זְמִינִין לִקְדָם יְיָ אַתְּ וְאִנּוּן וְאַהֲרֹן מְחַר׃
Moshe said to Korach: “You and your entire congregation will be before Adonoy, you, and they, and Aharon, tomorrow.
- Numbers 16:17
וּקְחוּ ׀ אִישׁ מַחְתָּתוֹ וּנְתַתֶּם עֲלֵיהֶם קְטֹרֶת וְהִקְרַבְתֶּם לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה אִישׁ מַחְתָּתוֹ חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתַיִם מַחְתֹּת וְאַתָּה וְאַהֲרֹן אִישׁ מַחְתָּתוֹ׃
Each of you take your fire pan and lay incense on it, and each of you bring that fire pan before GOD, two hundred and fifty fire pans; you and Aaron also [bring] your fire pans.”
Targum Onkelos
וְסַבוּ גְּבַר מַחְתִּיתֵיהּ וְתִתְּנוּן עֲלֵיהוֹן קְטוֹרֶת בּוּסְמִין וּתְקָרְבוּן קֳדָם יְיָ גְּבַר מַחְתִּיתֵיהּ מָאתַן וְחַמְשִׁין מַחְתְּיָן וְאַתְּ וְאַהֲרֹן גְּבַר מַחְתִּיתֵיהּ׃
Each man will take his firepan and place [fragrant] incense in them and you will offer before Adonoy each man his firepan, two hundred and fifty firepans, and you and Aharon will each take his own firepan.”
- Numbers 16:18
וַיִּקְחוּ אִישׁ מַחְתָּתוֹ וַיִּתְּנוּ עֲלֵיהֶם אֵשׁ וַיָּשִׂימוּ עֲלֵיהֶם קְטֹרֶת וַיַּעַמְדוּ פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וּמֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן׃
They each took their fire pan, put fire in it, laid incense on it, and took a place at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, as did Moses and Aaron.
Targum Onkelos
וּנְסִיבוּ גְּבַר מַחְתִּיתֵיהּ וִיהַבוּ עֲלֵיהוֹן אִישָׁתָא וְשַׁוִּיאוּ עֲלֵיהוֹן קְטוֹרֶת בּוּסְמִין וְקָמוּ בִּתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וּמֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן׃
Each man took his firepan and they placed fire in them and they put [fragrant] incense in them and they stood at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting along with Moshe and Aharon.
- Numbers 16:19
וַיַּקְהֵל עֲלֵיהֶם קֹרַח אֶת־כׇּל־הָעֵדָה אֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וַיֵּרָא כְבוֹד־יְהֹוָה אֶל־כׇּל־הָעֵדָה׃
Korah gathered the whole community against them at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. Then the Presence of GOD appeared to the whole community,
Targum Onkelos
וְכַנֵּישׁ עֲלֵיהוֹן קֹרַח יָת כָּל כְּנִשְׁתָּא לִתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וְאִתְגְּלִי יְקָרָא דַּייָ לְכָל כְּנִשְׁתָּא׃
Korach congregated against them, the entire congregation at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of Adonoy appeared to the entire congregation.
