- Exodus 34:27
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה כְּתׇב־לְךָ אֶת־הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה כִּי עַל־פִּי ׀ הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה כָּרַתִּי אִתְּךָ בְּרִית וְאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
And GOD said to Moses: Write down these commandments, for in accordance with these commandments I make a covenant with you and with Israel.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ לְמֹשֶׁה כְּתוֹב לָךְ יָת פִּתְגָמַיָּא הָאִלֵּין אֲרֵי עַל מֵימַר פִּתְגָמַיָּא הָאִלֵּין גְּזַרִית עִמָּךְ קְיָם וְעִם יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
Adonoy said to Moshe, “Write these words down for yourself, for with [regarding the expression of] these words I have made a covenant with you and with [the B’nei] Yisrael.”

וַיְהִי־שָׁם עִם־יְהֹוָה אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם וְאַרְבָּעִים לַיְלָה לֶחֶם לֹא אָכַל וּמַיִם לֹא שָׁתָה וַיִּכְתֹּב עַל־הַלֻּחֹת אֵת דִּבְרֵי הַבְּרִית עֲשֶׂרֶת הַדְּבָרִים׃
And he was there with GOD forty days and forty nights; he ate no bread and drank no water; and he wrote down on the tablets the terms of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
Targum Onkelos
וַהֲוָה תַּמָּן קֳדָם יְיָ אַרְבְּעִין יְמָמִין וְאַרְבְּעִין לֵילָוָן לַחְמָא לָא אֲכַל וּמַיָּא לָא שְׁתִי וּכְתַב עַל לוּחַיָּא יָת פִּתְגָמֵי קְיָמָא עֶשְׂרָא פִּתְגָמִין׃
He [Moshe] remained there with [before] Adonoy for forty days and forty nights. He did not eat bread nor drink water, and He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Words [commandments.]
- Exodus 34:29
וַיְהִי בְּרֶדֶת מֹשֶׁה מֵהַר סִינַי וּשְׁנֵי לֻחֹת הָעֵדֻת בְּיַד־מֹשֶׁה בְּרִדְתּוֹ מִן־הָהָר וּמֹשֶׁה לֹא־יָדַע כִּי קָרַן עוֹר פָּנָיו בְּדַבְּרוֹ אִתּוֹ׃
So Moses came down from Mount Sinai. And as Moses came down from the mountain bearing the two tablets of the Pact, Moses was not aware that the skin of his face was radiant, since he had spoken with God.
Targum Onkelos
וַהֲוָה כַּד נְחַת מֹשֶׁה מִטּוּרָא דְּסִינַי וּתְרֵין לוּחֵי דְּסָהֲדוּתָא בִּידָא דְּמֹשֶׁה בְּמֵיחֲתֵיהּ מִן טוּרָא וּמֹשֶׁה לָא יְדַע אֲרֵי סְגִי זִיו יְקָרָא דְּאַפּוֹהִי בְּמַלָּלוּתֵיהּ עִמֵּיהּ׃
And when Moshe came down from Mount Sinai, and the two Tablets of the Testimony were in Moshe’s hand when he came down from the Mountain. Moshe did not know that the skin [splendor of the glory] of his face had become radiant [increased] when He [God] spoke to him.
- Exodus 34:30
וַיַּרְא אַהֲרֹן וְכׇל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־מֹשֶׁה וְהִנֵּה קָרַן עוֹר פָּנָיו וַיִּירְאוּ מִגֶּשֶׁת אֵלָיו׃
Aaron and all the Israelites saw that the skin of Moses’ face was radiant; and they shrank from coming near him.
Targum Onkelos
וַחֲזָא אַהֲרֹן וְכָל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יָת מֹשֶׁה וְהָא סְגִי זִיו יְקָרָא דְּאַפּוֹהִי וּדְחִילוּ מִלְּאִתְקָרָבָא לְוָתֵיהּ׃
When Aharon and all the B’nei Yisrael saw Moshe, and beheld that the skin [splendor of the glory] of his face had become radiant [increased], they were afraid to come close to him.
- Exodus 34:31
וַיִּקְרָא אֲלֵהֶם מֹשֶׁה וַיָּשֻׁבוּ אֵלָיו אַהֲרֹן וְכׇל־הַנְּשִׂאִים בָּעֵדָה וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה אֲלֵהֶם׃
But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the chieftains in the assembly returned to him, and Moses spoke to them.
Targum Onkelos
וּקְרָא לְהוֹן מֹשֶׁה וְתָבוּ לְוָתֵיהּ אַהֲרֹן וְכָל רַבְרְבַיָּא בִּכְנִשְׁתָּא וּמַלֵּיל מֹשֶׁה עִמְּהוֹן׃
Moshe called to them and they returned to him—Aharon and all the leaders of the congregation—and Moshe spoke to them.
- Exodus 34:32
וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵן נִגְּשׁוּ כׇּל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיְצַוֵּם אֵת כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהֹוָה אִתּוֹ בְּהַר סִינָי׃
Afterward all the Israelites came near, and he instructed them concerning all that GOD had imparted to him on Mount Sinai.
Targum Onkelos
וּבָתַר כֵּן אִתְקָרַבוּ כָּל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּפַקֵּידִנּוּן יָת כָּל דְּמַלֵּיל יְיָ עִמֵּיהּ בְּטוּרָא דְּסִינָי׃
After that, all the B’nei Yisrael came close [to him] and he commanded them [regarding] all that Adonoy had spoken with him on Mount Sinai.

וַיְכַל מֹשֶׁה מִדַּבֵּר אִתָּם וַיִּתֵּן עַל־פָּנָיו מַסְוֶה׃
And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face.
Targum Onkelos
וְשֵׁיצֵי מֹשֶׁה מִלְּמַלָּלָא עִמְּהוֹן וִיהַב עַל אַפּוֹהִי בֵּית אַפֵּי׃
When Moshe finished speaking with them, he placed a [face] cover[ing] over his face.
- Exodus 34:34
וּבְבֹא מֹשֶׁה לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה לְדַבֵּר אִתּוֹ יָסִיר אֶת־הַמַּסְוֶה עַד־צֵאתוֹ וְיָצָא וְדִבֶּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֵת אֲשֶׁר יְצֻוֶּה׃
Whenever Moses went in before GOD to converse, he would leave the veil off until he came out; and when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded,
Targum Onkelos
וְכַד עָלֵיל מֹשֶׁה לִקְדָם יְיָ לְמַלָּלָא עִמֵּיהּ מַעְדֵּי יָת בֵּית אַפֵּי עַד מִפְּקֵיהּ וְנָפֵיק וּמְמַלֵּיל עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יָת דְּמִתְפַּקַּד׃
[But] when Moshe came before Adonoy, to speak to Him; he removed the [face] cover[ing] until he was ready to leave. and he would then go out and speak to the B’nei Yisrael, [telling them] what he had been commanded.
- Exodus 34:35
וְרָאוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־פְּנֵי מֹשֶׁה כִּי קָרַן עוֹר פְּנֵי מֹשֶׁה וְהֵשִׁיב מֹשֶׁה אֶת־הַמַּסְוֶה עַל־פָּנָיו עַד־בֹּאוֹ לְדַבֵּר אִתּוֹ׃
the Israelites would see how radiant the skin of Moses’ face was. Moses would then put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with God.
Targum Onkelos
וְחָזַן בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יָת אַפֵּי מֹשֶׁה אֲרֵי סְגִי זִיו יְקָרָא דְּאַפֵּי מֹשֶׁה וּמְתִיב מֹשֶׁה יָת בֵּית אַפֵּי עַל אַפּוֹהִי עַד דְּעָלֵיל לְמַלָּלָא עִמֵּיהּ׃
The B’nei Yisrael saw Moshe’s face, that the skin [splendor of the glory] of Moshe’s face had become radiant [increased], and Moshe replaced the [face] cover[ing] over his face until he would come in to speak to Him [Adonoy].
