- Exodus 33:12
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל־יְהֹוָה רְאֵה אַתָּה אֹמֵר אֵלַי הַעַל אֶת־הָעָם הַזֶּה וְאַתָּה לֹא הוֹדַעְתַּנִי אֵת אֲשֶׁר־תִּשְׁלַח עִמִּי וְאַתָּה אָמַרְתָּ יְדַעְתִּיךָ בְשֵׁם וְגַם־מָצָאתָ חֵן בְּעֵינָי׃
Moses said to GOD, “See, You say to me, ‘Lead this people forward,’ but You have not made known to me whom You will send with me. Further, You have said, ‘I have singled you out by name, and you have, indeed, gained My favor.’
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר מֹשֶׁה קֳדָם יְיָ חֲזִי דְּאַתְּ אָמַר לִי אַסֵּיק יָת עַמָּא הָדֵין וְאַתְּ לָא אוֹדַעְתַּנִי יָת דְּתִשְׁלַח עִמִּי וְאַתְּ אֲמַרְתְּ רַבִּיתָךְ בְּשׁוֹם וְאַף אַשְׁכַּחְתָּא רַחֲמִין קֳדָמָי׃
Moshe said to [before] Adonoy, “Behold, You say to me, ‘Lead this people up [to the land of Canaan],’ but You did not let me know whom You would send with me. You [also] said, ‘I know [exalted] you by name and you have also found favor in My eyes [before Me].’
- Exodus 33:13
וְעַתָּה אִם־נָא מָצָאתִי חֵן בְּעֵינֶיךָ הוֹדִעֵנִי נָא אֶת־דְּרָכֶךָ וְאֵדָעֲךָ לְמַעַן אֶמְצָא־חֵן בְּעֵינֶיךָ וּרְאֵה כִּי עַמְּךָ הַגּוֹי הַזֶּה׃
Now, if I have truly gained Your favor, pray let me know Your ways, that I may know You and continue in Your favor. Consider, too, that this nation is Your people.”
Targum Onkelos
וּכְעַן אִם כְּעַן אַשְׁכַּחִית רַחֲמִין קֳדָמָךְ אוֹדַעְנִי כְעַן יָת אוֹרַח טוּבָךְ וְאֶדַּע רַחֲמָךְ בְּדִיל דְּאַשְׁכַּח רַחֲמִין קֳדָמָךְ וּגְלֵי קֳדָמָךְ אֲרֵי עַמָּךְ עַמָּא הָדֵין׃
Now, please, if I have [now] found favor in Your eyes [before You], please [now] let me know Your [the way of Your goodness] way, so that I will know You [Your love], that I may find favor in Your eyes [before You]; and [also] consider [it will be revealed before You] that this nation is [indeed] Your people.”
- Exodus 33:14
וַיֹּאמַר פָּנַי יֵלֵכוּ וַהֲנִחֹתִי לָךְ׃
And [God] said, “I will go in the lead and will lighten your burden.”
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר שְׁכִינְתִי תְּהָךְ וַאֲנִיחַ לָךְ׃
He [God] said, “My Presence [Shechina] will go [with you] and I will accede to you[r request].”
- Exodus 33:15
וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו אִם־אֵין פָּנֶיךָ הֹלְכִים אַל־תַּעֲלֵנוּ מִזֶּה׃
And he replied, “Unless You go in the lead, do not make us leave this place.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר קֳדָמוֹהִי אִם לֵית שְׁכִינְתָךְ מְהַלְּכָא בֵּינַנָא לָא תַסְּקִנַּנָא מִכָּא׃
And he [Moshe] said to [before] Him, “If Your Presence [Shechina] does not go [with us] do not make us leave from this [place].
- Exodus 33:16
וּבַמֶּה ׀ יִוָּדַע אֵפוֹא כִּי־מָצָאתִי חֵן בְּעֵינֶיךָ אֲנִי וְעַמֶּךָ הֲלוֹא בְּלֶכְתְּךָ עִמָּנוּ וְנִפְלִינוּ אֲנִי וְעַמְּךָ מִכׇּל־הָעָם אֲשֶׁר עַל־פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה׃
For how shall it be known that Your people have gained Your favor unless You go with us, so that we may be distinguished, Your people and I, from every people on the face of the earth?”
Targum Onkelos
וּבְמָא יִתְיְדַע הָכָא אֲרֵי אַשְׁכַּחִית רַחֲמִין קֳדָמָךְ אֲנָא וְעַמָּךְ הֲלָא בִּמְהָךְ שְׁכִינְתָךְ עִמַּנָא וְיִתְעַבְדָן לַנָא פְרִישָׁן לִי וּלְעַמָּךְ מְשׁוּנַּי מִכָּל עַמָּא דְּעַל אַפֵּי אַרְעָא׃
And how will it be known [here]. that I have found favor in Your eyes [before You]—I and Your people—only if You [Your Shechina] go with us, so that we will be distinguished [wonders will be done for us]—I and Your people—[that they will be distinct] from every [other] people on the face of the earth.”
