- Leviticus 25:19
וְנָתְנָה הָאָרֶץ פִּרְיָהּ וַאֲכַלְתֶּם לָשֹׂבַע וִישַׁבְתֶּם לָבֶטַח עָלֶיהָ׃
the land shall yield its fruit and you shall eat your fill, and you shall live upon it in security.
Targum Onkelos
וְתִתֵּין אַרְעָא אִבַּהּ וְתֵיכְלוּן לְמִשְׂבַּע וְתִתְּבוּן לְרֻחְצָן עֲלַהּ׃
The land will give forth its fruit and you will eat your fill, and you will live securely on it.
- Leviticus 25:20
וְכִי תֹאמְרוּ מַה־נֹּאכַל בַּשָּׁנָה הַשְּׁבִיעִת הֵן לֹא נִזְרָע וְלֹא נֶאֱסֹף אֶת־תְּבוּאָתֵנוּ׃
And should you ask, “What are we to eat in the seventh year, if we may neither sow nor gather in our crops?”
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲרֵי תֵימְרוּן מָא נֵיכוֹל בְּשַׁתָּא שְׁבִיעֵיתָא הָא לָא נִזְרַע וְלָא נִכְנוֹשׁ יָת עֲלַלְתַּֽנָא׃
If you shall say (ask) What will we eat in the seventh year, for lo! we have not planted nor gathered our produce?
- Leviticus 25:21
וְצִוִּיתִי אֶת־בִּרְכָתִי לָכֶם בַּשָּׁנָה הַשִּׁשִּׁית וְעָשָׂת אֶת־הַתְּבוּאָה לִשְׁלֹשׁ הַשָּׁנִים׃
I will ordain My blessing for you in the sixth year, so that it shall yield a crop sufficient for three years.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲפַקֵּיד יָת בִּרְכְתִי לְכוֹן בְּשַׁתָּא שְׁתִיתֵיתָא וְתַעֲבֵיד יָת עֲלַלְתָּא לִתְלָת שְׁנִין׃
I shall command (direct) My blessing to you in the sixth year and it will produce [enough] for three years.
- Leviticus 25:22
וּזְרַעְתֶּם אֵת הַשָּׁנָה הַשְּׁמִינִת וַאֲכַלְתֶּם מִן־הַתְּבוּאָה יָשָׁן עַד ׀ הַשָּׁנָה הַתְּשִׁיעִת עַד־בּוֹא תְּבוּאָתָהּ תֹּאכְלוּ יָשָׁן׃
When you sow in the eighth year, you will still be eating old grain of that crop; you will be eating the old until the ninth year, until its crops come in.
Targum Onkelos
וְתִזְרְעוּן יָת שַׁתָּא תְּמִינֵיתָא וְתֵיכְלוּן מִן עֲלַלְתָּא עַתִּיקָא עַד שַׁתָּא תְּשִׁיעֵיתָא עַד מֵיעַל עֲלַלְתַּהּ תֵּיכְלוּן עַתִּיקָא׃
You shall plant in the eighth year but you will still be eating from the old produce until the ninth year; until the [new] produce arrives (ripens) you shall eat [from] the old.
- Leviticus 25:23
וְהָאָרֶץ לֹא תִמָּכֵר לִצְמִתֻת כִּי־לִי הָאָרֶץ כִּי־גֵרִים וְתוֹשָׁבִים אַתֶּם עִמָּדִי׃
But the land must not be sold beyond reclaim, for the land is Mine; you are but strangers resident with Me.
Targum Onkelos
וְאַרְעָא לָא תִזְדַּבַּן לַחְלוּטִין אֲרֵי דִּילִי אַרְעָא אֲרֵי דַּיָּירִין וְתוֹתָבִין אַתּוּן קֳדָמָי׃
The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is Mine, for, you are [merely as] foreigners [foreign resident] and resident aliens [residents] before Me.
- Leviticus 25:24
וּבְכֹל אֶרֶץ אֲחֻזַּתְכֶם גְּאֻלָּה תִּתְּנוּ לָאָרֶץ׃
Throughout the land that you hold, you must provide for the redemption of the land.
Targum Onkelos
וּבְכֹל אֲרַע אַחְסָנַתְכוֹן פּוּרְקָנָא תִּתְּנוּן לְאַרְעָא׃
In all of your ancestral lands you shall grant redemption to the land.
