- Leviticus 16:18
וְיָצָא אֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ אֲשֶׁר לִפְנֵי־יְהֹוָה וְכִפֶּר עָלָיו וְלָקַח מִדַּם הַפָּר וּמִדַּם הַשָּׂעִיר וְנָתַן עַל־קַרְנוֹת הַמִּזְבֵּחַ סָבִיב׃
he shall go out to the altar that is before GOD and purge it: he shall take some of the blood of the bull and of the goat and apply it to each of the horns of the altar;
Targum Onkelos
וְיִפּוֹק לְמַדְבְּחָא דִּקְדָם יְיָ וִיכַפַּר עֲלוֹהִי וְיִסַּב מִדְּמָא דְּתוֹרָא וּמִדְּמָא דִּצְפִירָא וְיִתֵּין עַל קַרְנָת מַדְבְּחָא סְחוֹר סְחוֹר׃
He shall go out to the altar that is before Adonoy and atone on it. He shall take some of the bullocks blood and some of the he-goats blood and put it atop the corners of the altar, all around.
- Leviticus 16:19
וְהִזָּה עָלָיו מִן־הַדָּם בְּאֶצְבָּעוֹ שֶׁבַע פְּעָמִים וְטִהֲרוֹ וְקִדְּשׁוֹ מִטֻּמְאֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
and the rest of the blood he shall sprinkle on it with his finger seven times. Thus he shall purify it of the defilement of the Israelites and consecrate it.
Targum Onkelos
וְיַדֵּי עֲלוֹהִי מִן דְּמָא בְּאֶצְבְּעֵיהּ שְׁבַע זִמְנִין וִידַכֵּינֵיהּ וִיקַדְּשִׁנֵּיהּ מִסּוֹאֲבָת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
He shall sprinkle on it from the blood that is on his finger seven times and purify it and sanctify it from the impurities of Bnei Yisroel.
- Leviticus 16:20
וְכִלָּה מִכַּפֵּר אֶת־הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְאֶת־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְאֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וְהִקְרִיב אֶת־הַשָּׂעִיר הֶחָי׃
When he has finished purging the Shrine, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, the live goat shall be brought forward.
Targum Onkelos
וִישֵׁיצֵי מִלְּכַפָּרָא עַל קוּדְשָׁא וְעַל מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וְעַל מַדְבְּחָא וִיקָרֵיב יָת צְפִירָא חַיָּא׃
When he finishes atoning for the Holy [Sanctuary] and [for] the Tent of Meeting and [for] the altar he shall bring the live he-goat.
- Leviticus 16:21
וְסָמַךְ אַהֲרֹן אֶת־שְׁתֵּי יָדָו עַל רֹאשׁ הַשָּׂעִיר הַחַי וְהִתְוַדָּה עָלָיו אֶת־כׇּל־עֲוֺנֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאֶת־כׇּל־פִּשְׁעֵיהֶם לְכׇל־חַטֹּאתָם וְנָתַן אֹתָם עַל־רֹאשׁ הַשָּׂעִיר וְשִׁלַּח בְּיַד־אִישׁ עִתִּי הַמִּדְבָּרָה׃
Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat and confess over it all the iniquities and transgressions of the Israelites, whatever their sins, putting them on the head of the goat; and it shall be sent off to the wilderness through a designated agent.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִסְמוֹךְ אַהֲרֹן יָת תַּרְתֵּין יְדוֹהִי עַל רֵישׁ צְפִירָא חַיָּא וִיוַדֵּי עֲלוֹהִי יָת כָּל עֲוָיָת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְיָת כָּל מִרְדֵּיהוֹן לְכָל חֲטָאֵיהוֹן וְיִתֵּין יָתְהוֹן עַל רֵישׁ צְפִירָא וִישַׁלַּח בְּיַד גְּבַר דִּזְמִין לִמְהָךְ לְמַדְבְּרָא׃
Aharon shall lay his two hands on the head of the live he-goat and confess on it all the iniquities of Bnei Yisroel and all their rebellious transgressions for all their sins, and put them on the head of the goat and send it away with the man [so] designated, to [go to] the desert.
- Leviticus 16:22
וְנָשָׂא הַשָּׂעִיר עָלָיו אֶת־כׇּל־עֲוֺנֹתָם אֶל־אֶרֶץ גְּזֵרָה וְשִׁלַּח אֶת־הַשָּׂעִיר בַּמִּדְבָּר׃
Thus the goat shall carry on it all their iniquities to an inaccessible region; and the goat shall be set free in the wilderness.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִטּוֹל צְפִירָא עֲלוֹהִי יָת כָּל חוֹבֵיהוֹן לַאֲרַע דְּלָא יָתְבָא וִישַׁלַּח יָת צְפִירָא בְּמַדְבְּרָא׃
The goat shall carry upon itself all of their iniquities to a desolate [an uninhabited] land, and [the man shall] send the goat into the desert.
- Leviticus 16:23
וּבָא אַהֲרֹן אֶל־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וּפָשַׁט אֶת־בִּגְדֵי הַבָּד אֲשֶׁר לָבַשׁ בְּבֹאוֹ אֶל־הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְהִנִּיחָם שָׁם׃
And Aaron shall go into the Tent of Meeting, take off the linen vestments that he put on when he entered the Shrine, and leave them there.
Targum Onkelos
וְיֵיעוֹל אַהֲרֹן לְמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וְיַשְׁלַח יָת לְבוּשֵׁי בוּצָא דִּלְבַשׁ בְּמֵיעֲלֵיהּ לְקוּדְשָׁא וְיַצְנְעִנּוּן תַּמָּן׃
Aharon will [then] come into the Tent of Meeting and remove the linen garments that he wore when he came into the Holy [Sanctuary] and place [hide] them there.
- Leviticus 16:24
וְרָחַץ אֶת־בְּשָׂרוֹ בַמַּיִם בְּמָקוֹם קָדוֹשׁ וְלָבַשׁ אֶת־בְּגָדָיו וְיָצָא וְעָשָׂה אֶת־עֹלָתוֹ וְאֶת־עֹלַת הָעָם וְכִפֶּר בַּעֲדוֹ וּבְעַד הָעָם׃
He shall bathe in water in the holy precinct and put on his vestments; then he shall come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, making expiation for himself and for the people.
Targum Onkelos
וְיַסְחֵי יָת בִּשְׂרֵיהּ בְּמַיָּא בַּאֲתַר קַדִּישׁ וְיִלְבַּשׁ יָת לְבוּשׁוֹהִי וְיִפּוֹק וְיַעֲבֵיד יָת עֲלָתֵיהּ וְיָת עֲלַת עַמָּא וִיכַפַּר עֲלוֹהִי וְעַל עַמָּא׃
He shall wash his flesh in water in a sacred place and don his garments. He shall go out and do (offer) his burnt-offering and the peoples burnt-offering and atone on his behalf and on behalf of the people.
