What this is

Parsha App is a free tool for learning the weekly parsha — for Shnayim Mikra V'Echad Targum, for reviewing what you have read, and for preparing something to say. There is no charge, no subscription, and no advertising.

This is not a posek

This is the most important thing on this page. The app presents the text, the Targum, Rashi, and a reading calendar. It does not rule on anything.

Questions of halacha — how Shnayim Mikra is to be fulfilled, when a parsha is read where you live, what counts and what does not — belong to your rav, not to a website. Where this app and a competent halachic authority disagree, the authority is right.

For the same reason, please do not rely on this app alone for a public reading. Verify against a printed chumash.

The texts are not ours

Every Torah text in this app comes from someone else's work, and each carries its own licence. They are credited in Settings, under Sources & credits, and that credit is a condition of using them rather than a courtesy.

  • The Hebrew text and the vocalized Targum Onkelos are licensed CC BY-SA.
  • The JPS English translation and the Metsudah English of Onkelos are licensed CC BY-NC — non-commercial.
  • Rashi in English is Rosenbaum & Silbermann, public domain.

The non-commercial condition is binding on us as well as on you: it is why this app is free and why it will not carry advertising while it includes those translations.

Your account

You do not need one. If you make one, keep your password to yourself — anyone who has it can read and change your progress. An account is for one person; it is not meant to be shared.

You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, from Settings. It happens straight away and cannot be undone.

Fair use of the app

Use it to learn. Please do not attempt to break into other people's accounts, overload the service, scrape the texts in bulk, or use it to distribute anything unlawful. Accounts doing those things may be removed.

No guarantees

This app is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It is built carefully and the calendar and texts are checked against their sources, but software has mistakes in it, and a mistake here could mean a wrong verse or a wrong week.

We are not liable for any loss arising from using it — including loss of your saved progress. Keeping progress is a convenience, not a guarantee, and no backup is promised.

Changes

These terms may change, and the date at the top will change with them. The app may also change or be discontinued. If it is ever shut down, reasonable notice will be given so that anyone who wants a copy of their progress can ask for it.
