- Exodus 19:1
בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁלִישִׁי לְצֵאת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם בַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה בָּאוּ מִדְבַּר סִינָי׃
On the third new moon after the Israelites had gone forth from the land of Egypt, on that very day, they entered the wilderness of Sinai.
Targum Onkelos
בְּיַרְחָא תְּלִיתָאָה לְמִפַּק בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאַרְעָא דְּמִצְרָיִם בְּיוֹמָא הָדֵין אֲתוֹ לְמַדְבְּרָא דְּסִינָי׃
In the third month of the Bnei Yisrael’s departure from the land of Egypt, on that very day they came to the desert of Sinai.
- Exodus 19:2
וַיִּסְעוּ מֵרְפִידִים וַיָּבֹאוּ מִדְבַּר סִינַי וַיַּחֲנוּ בַּמִּדְבָּר וַיִּחַן־שָׁם יִשְׂרָאֵל נֶגֶד הָהָר׃
Having journeyed from Rephidim, they entered the wilderness of Sinai and encamped in the wilderness. Israel encamped there in front of the mountain,
Targum Onkelos
וּנְטַלוּ מֵרְפִידִים וַאֲתוֹ לְמַדְבְּרָא דְּסִינַי וּשְׁרוֹ בְּמַדְבְּרָא וּשְׁרָא תַּמָּן יִשְׂרָאֵל לָקֳבֵיל טוּרָא׃
They had journeyed from Rephidim and had come to the desert of Sinai, and camped in the desert. Yisrael camped there opposite the mountain.
- Exodus 19:3
וּמֹשֶׁה עָלָה אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִים וַיִּקְרָא אֵלָיו יְהֹוָה מִן־הָהָר לֵאמֹר כֹּה תֹאמַר לְבֵית יַעֲקֹב וְתַגֵּיד לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
and Moses went up to God. The ETERNAL called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus shall you say to the house of Jacob and declare to the children of Israel:
Targum Onkelos
וּמֹשֶׁה סְלֵיק לִקְדָם יְיָ וּקְרָא לֵיהּ יְיָ מִן טוּרָא לְמֵימַר כְּדֵין תֵּימַר לְבֵית יַעֲקֹב וּתְחַוֵּי לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
Moshe went up to [before] [the Presence of] God, and Adonoy called to him from the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall say to the House of Yaakov, and tell to the Bnei Yisrael.
- Exodus 19:4
אַתֶּם רְאִיתֶם אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי לְמִצְרָיִם וָאֶשָּׂא אֶתְכֶם עַל־כַּנְפֵי נְשָׁרִים וָאָבִא אֶתְכֶם אֵלָי׃
‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Me.
Targum Onkelos
אַתּוּן חֲזֵיתוֹן דַּעֲבַדִית לְמִצְרָאֵי וְנַטֵּילִית יָתְכוֹן כִּד עַל גַּדְפֵּי נִשְׁרִין וְקָרֵיבִית יָתְכוֹן לְפוּלְחָנִי׃
‘You saw what I did to Egypt; and [how] I carried [transported] you [as if] on wings of eagles, and brought you [close] to Me [My worship].
- Exodus 19:5
וְעַתָּה אִם־שָׁמוֹעַ תִּשְׁמְעוּ בְּקֹלִי וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם אֶת־בְּרִיתִי וִהְיִיתֶם לִי סְגֻלָּה מִכׇּל־הָעַמִּים כִּי־לִי כׇּל־הָאָרֶץ׃
Now then, if you will obey Me faithfully and keep My covenant, you shall be My treasured possession among all the peoples. Indeed, all the earth is Mine,
Targum Onkelos
וּכְעַן אִם קַבָּלָא תְקַבְּלוּן לְמֵימְרִי וְתִטְּרוּן יָת קְיָמִי וּתְהוֹן קֳדָמַי חַבִּיבִין מִכָּל עַמְמַיָּא אֲרֵי דִּילִי כָל אַרְעָא׃
And now if you listen diligently [obey] to My voice [Word], and preserve My covenant; you shall be [more] beloved before Me than My special treasure among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine.
- Exodus 19:6
וְאַתֶּם תִּהְיוּ־לִי מַמְלֶכֶת כֹּהֲנִים וְגוֹי קָדוֹשׁ אֵלֶּה הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר תְּדַבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
but you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the children of Israel.”
Targum Onkelos
וְאַתּוּן תְּהוֹן קֳדָמַי מַלְכִין כָּהֲנִין וְעַם קַדִּישׁ אִלֵּין פִּתְגָמַיָּא דִּתְמַלֵּיל עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
You will be to [before] Me a kingdom of [kings and] kohanim, and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the Bnei Yisrael.”
