    Yitzchok [thus] settled in Gerar.

  2. Genesis 26:7

When the locals asked him about his wife, he said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say “my wife,” thinking, “The locals might kill me on account of Rebekah, for she is beautiful.”

    Targum Onkelos

The local men asked about his wife, and he said, She is my sister. He was afraid to say, [she is] my wife, lest the local men kill me for Rivkah, for she is so good looking.

  3. Genesis 26:8

When some time had passed, Abimelech king of the Philistines, looking out of the window, saw Isaac fondling his wife Rebekah.

    Targum Onkelos

Once, after [Yitzchok] had been there a long while, Avimelech, king of the Philistines, looked at the window, and he saw, and behold, Yitzchok was amusing himself with Rivkah, his wife.

  4. Genesis 26:9

Abimelech sent for Isaac and said, “So she is your wife! Why then did you say: ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac said to him, “Because I thought I might lose my life on account of her.”

    Targum Onkelos

Avimelech called Yitzchok and he said, But she is your wife. How could you have said, She is my sister? Yitzchok said to him, Because I said, I might die because of her.

  5. Genesis 26:10

Abimelech said, “What have you done to us! One of the men might have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us.”

    Targum Onkelos

Avimelech said, What have you done to us? One of the people [The unique one among the people] could have easily slept with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us.

  6. Genesis 26:11

Abimelech then charged all the people, saying, “Anyone who molests this man or his wife shall be put to death.”

    Targum Onkelos

Avimelech [then] commanded all his people, saying, Whoever touches [injures] this man or his wife, shall die.

  7. Genesis 26:12

Isaac sowed in that land and reaped a hundredfold the same year. GOD blessed him,

    Targum Onkelos

Yitzchok planted in that land, and in that year he reaped a hundred fold [more than that which they estimated], for Adonoy had blessed him.
