- Exodus 27:1
וְעָשִׂיתָ אֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ עֲצֵי שִׁטִּים חָמֵשׁ אַמּוֹת אֹרֶךְ וְחָמֵשׁ אַמּוֹת רֹחַב רָבוּעַ יִהְיֶה הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וְשָׁלֹשׁ אַמּוֹת קֹמָתוֹ׃
You shall make the altar of acacia wood, five cubits long and five cubits wide—the altar is to be square—and three cubits high.
Targum Onkelos
וְתַעֲבֵיד יָת מַדְבְּחָא דְּאָעֵי שִׁטִּין חֲמֵישׁ אַמִּין אוּרְכָּא וַחֲמֵישׁ אַמִּין פּוּתְיָא מְרוּבַּע יְהֵי מַדְבְּחָא וּתְלָת אַמִּין רוּמֵיהּ׃
You shall make the altar out of acacia wood. It shall be five amohs long, and five amohs wide. The altar shall be square, and its height shall be three amohs.
- Exodus 27:2
וְעָשִׂיתָ קַרְנֹתָיו עַל אַרְבַּע פִּנֹּתָיו מִמֶּנּוּ תִּהְיֶיןָ קַרְנֹתָיו וְצִפִּיתָ אֹתוֹ נְחֹשֶׁת׃
Make its horns on the four corners, the horns to be of one piece with it; and overlay it with copper.
Targum Onkelos
וְתַעֲבֵיד קַרְנוֹהִי עַל אַרְבַּע זָוְיָתֵיהּ מִנֵּיהּ יִהְוְיָן קַרְנוֹהִי וְתִחְפֵי יָתֵיהּ נְחָשָׁא׃
Make its raised projections on its four corners. Its raised projections shall be of one piece with it, and you shall overlay it [the altar] with copper.
- Exodus 27:3
וְעָשִׂיתָ סִּירֹתָיו לְדַשְּׁנוֹ וְיָעָיו וּמִזְרְקֹתָיו וּמִזְלְגֹתָיו וּמַחְתֹּתָיו לְכׇל־כֵּלָיו תַּעֲשֶׂה נְחֹשֶׁת׃
Make the pails for removing its ashes, as well as its scrapers, basins, flesh hooks, and fire pans—make all its utensils of copper.
Targum Onkelos
וְתַעֲבֵיד פְּסַכְתֵּירְוָתֵיהּ לְמִסְפֵּי קִטְמֵיהּ וּמַגְרוֹפְיָתֵיהּ וּמִזְרְקוֹהִי וְצִנּוֹרְיָתֵיהּ וּמַחְתְּיָתֵיהּ לְכָל מָנוֹהִי תַּעֲבֵיד נְחָשָׁא׃
Make its pots to remove [collect] its ashes, [also] its scoops, its basins, its flesh hooks, and its fire pans. Make all of its vessels out of copper.
- Exodus 27:4
וְעָשִׂיתָ לּוֹ מִכְבָּר מַעֲשֵׂה רֶשֶׁת נְחֹשֶׁת וְעָשִׂיתָ עַל־הָרֶשֶׁת אַרְבַּע טַבְּעֹת נְחֹשֶׁת עַל אַרְבַּע קְצוֹתָיו׃
Make for it a grating of meshwork in copper; and on the mesh make four copper rings at its four corners.
Targum Onkelos
וְתַעֲבֵיד לֵיהּ סְרָדָא עוֹבָד מְצָדְתָא דִּנְחָשָׁא וְתַעֲבֵיד עַל מְצָדְתָא אַרְבַּע עִזְקָן דִּנְחָשָׁא עַל אַרְבְּעָא סִטְרוֹהִי׃
Make for it a grate of copper netting. On the grate you shall make four copper rings on its four corners.
- Exodus 27:5
וְנָתַתָּה אֹתָהּ תַּחַת כַּרְכֹּב הַמִּזְבֵּחַ מִלְּמָטָּה וְהָיְתָה הָרֶשֶׁת עַד חֲצִי הַמִּזְבֵּחַ׃
Set the mesh below, under the ledge of the altar, so that it extends to the middle of the altar.
Targum Onkelos
וְתִתֵּין יָתַהּ תְּחוֹת סוֹבֵיבָא דְּמַדְבְּחָא מִלְּרַע וּתְהֵי מְצָדְתָא עַד פַּלְגוּת מַדְבְּחָא׃
Place it under the rim of the altar, extending downward, so that the grate reaches the middle of the altar.
- Exodus 27:6
וְעָשִׂיתָ בַדִּים לַמִּזְבֵּחַ בַּדֵּי עֲצֵי שִׁטִּים וְצִפִּיתָ אֹתָם נְחֹשֶׁת׃
And make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with copper.
Targum Onkelos
וְתַעֲבֵיד אֲרִיחַיָּא לְמַדְבְּחָא אֲרִיחֵי דְּאָעֵי שִׁטִּין וְתִחְפֵי יָתְהוֹן נְחָשָׁא׃
Make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with copper.
- Exodus 27:7
וְהוּבָא אֶת־בַּדָּיו בַּטַּבָּעֹת וְהָיוּ הַבַּדִּים עַל־שְׁתֵּי צַלְעֹת הַמִּזְבֵּחַ בִּשְׂאֵת אֹתוֹ׃
The poles shall be inserted into the rings, so that the poles remain on the two sides of the altar when it is carried.
Targum Onkelos
וְיַעֵיל יָת אֲרִיחוֹהִי בְּעִזְקָתָא וִיהוֹן אֲרִיחַיָּא עַל תְּרֵין סִטְרֵי מַדְבְּחָא בְּמִטַּל יָתֵיהּ׃
Place its poles into the rings, and the poles shall be on the two sides of the altar when it is carried.
- Exodus 27:8
נְבוּב לֻחֹת תַּעֲשֶׂה אֹתוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר הֶרְאָה אֹתְךָ בָּהָר כֵּן יַעֲשׂוּ׃
Make it hollow, of boards. As you were shown on the mountain, so shall they be made.
Targum Onkelos
חֲלִיל לוּחִין תַּעֲבֵיד יָתֵיהּ כְּמָא דְּאַחְזִי יָתָךְ בְּטוּרָא כֵּן יַעְבְּדוּן׃
It should be a hollow structure constructed from boards. As it was shown to you on the mountain, so shall they make it.
