- Leviticus 13:40
וְאִישׁ כִּי יִמָּרֵט רֹאשׁוֹ קֵרֵחַ הוּא טָהוֹר הוּא׃
If a man loses the hair of his head and becomes bald, he is pure.
Targum Onkelos
וּגְבַר אֲרֵי יִתַּר שְׂעַר רֵישֵׁיהּ קְרִיח הוּא דְּכֵי הוּא׃
If a mans hair falls out, he is [merely] bald; he is clean.
- Leviticus 13:41
וְאִם מִפְּאַת פָּנָיו יִמָּרֵט רֹאשׁוֹ גִּבֵּחַ הוּא טָהוֹר הוּא׃
If he loses the hair on the front part of his head and becomes bald at the forehead, he is pure.
Targum Onkelos
וְאִם מִקֳּבֵיל אַפּוֹהִי יִתַּר שְׂעַר רֵישֵׁיהּ גְּלִישׁ הוּא דְּכֵי הוּא׃
If, on the front of his head his hair falls out, he is [merely] frontally bald; he is clean.
- Leviticus 13:42
וְכִי־יִהְיֶה בַקָּרַחַת אוֹ בַגַּבַּחַת נֶגַע לָבָן אֲדַמְדָּם צָרַעַת פֹּרַחַת הִוא בְּקָרַחְתּוֹ אוֹ בְגַבַּחְתּוֹ׃
But if a white affection streaked with red appears on the bald part in the front or at the back of the head, it is a scaly eruption that is spreading over the bald part in the front or at the back of the head.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲרֵי יְהֵי בְקַרְחוּתָא אוֹ בִגְלֵישׁוּתָא מַכְתָּשׁ חִיוָר סָמוֹק סְגִירוּת סָגְיָא הִיא בְּקַרְחוּתֵיהּ אוֹ בִגְלֵישׁוּתֵיהּ׃
If there will be, in the baldness in back of the head or in the baldness in front of the head a white skin-eruption, tinged with red, it is tzoraas [‘confinement’] sprouting in his frontal baldness or in his posterior baldness.

וְרָאָה אֹתוֹ הַכֹּהֵן וְהִנֵּה שְׂאֵת־הַנֶּגַע לְבָנָה אֲדַמְדֶּמֶת בְּקָרַחְתּוֹ אוֹ בְגַבַּחְתּוֹ כְּמַרְאֵה צָרַעַת עוֹר בָּשָׂר׃
The priest shall examine him: if the swollen affection on the bald part in the front or at the back of his head is white streaked with red, like the leprosy of body skin in appearance,

וְיִחְזֵי יָתֵיהּ כָּהֲנָא וְהָא עוֹמֶק מַכְתָּשָׁא חִיוָר סָמוֹק בְּקַרְחוּתֵיהּ אוֹ בִגְלֵישׁוּתֵיהּ כְּמִחְזֵי סְגִירוּת מְשַׁךְ בִּשְׂרָא׃
The kohein shall see him, and behold! the spot of intense [deep] whiteness is tinged with red in his frontal baldness or in his posterior baldness just as the appearance tzoraas [‘confinement’] of the skin of the flesh.

אִישׁ־צָרוּעַ הוּא טָמֵא הוּא טַמֵּא יְטַמְּאֶנּוּ הַכֹּהֵן בְּרֹאשׁוֹ נִגְעוֹ׃
he is a leprous man; he is impure. The priest shall pronounce him impure; he has the affection on his head.
Targum Onkelos
גְּבַר סְגִיר הוּא מְסָאַב הוּא סַאָבָא יְסַאֲבִנֵּיהּ כָּהֲנָא בְּרֵישֵׁיהּ מַכְתָּשֵׁיהּ׃
He is a person with tzoraas, [‘confinement’] he is unclean. The kohein shall declare him unclean; his skin-eruption is on his head.
- Leviticus 13:45
וְהַצָּרוּעַ אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ הַנֶּגַע בְּגָדָיו יִהְיוּ פְרֻמִים וְרֹאשׁוֹ יִהְיֶה פָרוּעַ וְעַל־שָׂפָם יַעְטֶה וְטָמֵא ׀ טָמֵא יִקְרָא׃
As for the person with a leprous affection: their clothes shall be rent, their head shall be left bare, and their upper lip shall be covered over; and they shall call out, “Impure! Impure!”
Targum Onkelos
וּסְגִירָא דְּבֵיהּ מַכְתָּשָׁא לְבוּשׁוֹהִי יְהוֹן מְבַזְּעִין וְרֵישֵׁיהּ יְהֵי פְרִיעַ וְעַל שָׂפָם כַּאֲבִילָא יִתְעַטַּף וְלָא תִסְתָּאֲבוּ וְלָא תִסְתָּאֲבוּ יִקְרֵי׃
The tzorua [one who is ‘confined’]—[the person] who has the skin-eruption—his garments shall have a tear in them, his hair shall be grown long, and he must cover his head down to his upper lip [like a mourner], and [do not become] Unclean, [do not become] unclean, shall he call out.
- Leviticus 13:46
כׇּל־יְמֵי אֲשֶׁר הַנֶּגַע בּוֹ יִטְמָא טָמֵא הוּא בָּדָד יֵשֵׁב מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה מוֹשָׁבוֹ׃
They shall be impure as long as the disease is present. Being impure, they shall dwell apart—in a dwelling outside the camp.
Targum Onkelos
כָּל יוֹמִין דְּמַכְתָּשָׁא בֵיהּ יְהֵי מְסָאַב מְסָאַב הוּא בִּלְחוֹדוֹהִי יִתֵּיב מִבַּרָא לְמַשְׁרִיתָא מוֹתְבֵיהּ׃
All the days in which the skin-eruption is on him he shall be unclean; he is unclean. He shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be beyond the encampment.

וְהַבֶּגֶד כִּי־יִהְיֶה בוֹ נֶגַע צָרָעַת בְּבֶגֶד צֶמֶר אוֹ בְּבֶגֶד פִּשְׁתִּים׃
When an eruptive affection occurs in a cloth of wool or linen fabric,
Targum Onkelos
וּלְבוּשָׁא אֲרֵי יְהֵי בֵיהּ מַכְתָּשׁ סְגִירוּ בִּלְבוּשׁ עַמַּר אוֹ בִלְבוּשׁ כִּתָּן׃
When in a garment there is a skin-eruption of tzoraas, [‘confinement’] whether a woolen garment or in a linen garment.

אוֹ בִשְׁתִי אוֹ בְעֵרֶב לַפִּשְׁתִּים וְלַצָּמֶר אוֹ בְעוֹר אוֹ בְּכׇל־מְלֶאכֶת עוֹר׃
in the warp or in the woof of the linen or the wool, or in a skin or in anything made of skin;

אוֹ בְשִׁתְיָא אוֹ בְעִרְבָּא לְכִתָּנָא וּלְעַמְרָא אוֹ בְמַשְׁכָּא אוֹ בְכָל עֲבִידַת מְשַׁךְ׃
Or if it is the warp [lengthwise] threads, or in the woof [widthwise] threads, in a linen garment, or a woolen garment, or on leather or in any object made of leather.

וְהָיָה הַנֶּגַע יְרַקְרַק ׀ אוֹ אֲדַמְדָּם בַּבֶּגֶד אוֹ בָעוֹר אוֹ־בַשְּׁתִי אוֹ־בָעֵרֶב אוֹ בְכׇל־כְּלִי־עוֹר נֶגַע צָרַעַת הוּא וְהׇרְאָה אֶת־הַכֹּהֵן׃
if the affection in the cloth or the skin, in the warp or the woof, or in any article of skin, is streaky green or red, it is an eruptive affection. It shall be shown to the priest;

וִיהֵי מַכְתָּשָׁא יָרוֹק אוֹ סָמוֹק בִּלְבוּשָׁא אוֹ בְמַשְׁכָּא אוֹ בְשִׁתְיָא אוֹ בְעִרְבָּא אוֹ בְכָל מָן דִּמְשַׁךְ מַכְתָּשׁ סְגִירוּתָא הוּא וְיִתַּחְזֵי לְכָהֲנָא׃
If the plague is deep green or deep red [green or red], in the garment, or in the leather hide or in the warp threads, or in the woof threads, or if it is in any object made of leather; it is the eruption of tzoraas [‘confinement’] and it shall be shown to the kohein.
- Leviticus 13:50
וְרָאָה הַכֹּהֵן אֶת־הַנָּגַע וְהִסְגִּיר אֶת־הַנֶּגַע שִׁבְעַת יָמִים׃
and the priest, after examining the affection, shall isolate the affected article for seven days.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִחְזֵי כָהֲנָא יָת מַכְתָּשָׁא וְיַסְגַּר יָת מַכְתָּשָׁא שִׁבְעָא יוֹמִין׃
The kohein shall see the plague and confine the eruption, for seven days.
- Leviticus 13:51
וְרָאָה אֶת־הַנֶּגַע בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי כִּי־פָשָׂה הַנֶּגַע בַּבֶּגֶד אוֹ־בַשְּׁתִי אוֹ־בָעֵרֶב אוֹ בָעוֹר לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־יֵעָשֶׂה הָעוֹר לִמְלָאכָה צָרַעַת מַמְאֶרֶת הַנֶּגַע טָמֵא הוּא׃
On the seventh day he shall examine the affection: if the affection has spread in the cloth—whether in the warp or the woof, or in the skin, for whatever purpose the skin may be used—the affection is a malignant eruption; it is impure.
Targum Onkelos
וְיִחְזֵי יָת מַכְתָּשָׁא בְּיוֹמָא שְׁבִיעָאָה אֲרֵי אוֹסֵיף מַכְתָּשָׁא בִּלְבוּשָׁא אוֹ בְשִׁתְיָא אוֹ בְעִרְבָּא אוֹ בְמַשְׁכָּא לְכֹל דְּיִתְעֲבֵיד מַשְׁכָּא לַעֲבִידְתָא סְגִירוּת מְחַסְּרָא מַכְתָּשָׁא מְסָאַב הוּא׃
He shall see the eruption on the seventh day. If the eruption has spread [increased] in the garment or in the warp thread, or in the woof thread, or in the leather hide, or in the work made of leather, it is a prickly tzoraas, [‘confinement’ of loss] it is unclean.
- Leviticus 13:52
וְשָׂרַף אֶת־הַבֶּגֶד אוֹ אֶת־הַשְּׁתִי ׀ אוֹ אֶת־הָעֵרֶב בַּצֶּמֶר אוֹ בַפִּשְׁתִּים אוֹ אֶת־כׇּל־כְּלִי הָעוֹר אֲשֶׁר־יִהְיֶה בוֹ הַנָּגַע כִּי־צָרַעַת מַמְאֶרֶת הִוא בָּאֵשׁ תִּשָּׂרֵף׃
The cloth—whether warp or woof in wool or linen, or any article of skin—in which the affection is found, shall be burned, for it is a malignant eruption; it shall be consumed in fire.
Targum Onkelos
וְיוֹקֵיד יָת לְבוּשָׁא אוֹ יָת שִׁתְיָא אוֹ יָת עִרְבָּא בְּעַמְרָא אוֹ בְכִתָּנָא אוֹ יָת כָּל מָאן דִּמְשַׁךְ דִּיהֵי בֵיהּ מַכְתָּשָׁא אֲרֵי סְגִירוּת מְחַסְּרָא הִיא בְּנוּרָא תִּתּוֹקַד׃
He shall burn the garment, or the warp [lengthwise] threads, or the woof [widthwise] threads, be it in wool or in linen, or in all leather made objects, in which there is the eruption. For it is a prickly tzoraas. [‘confinement’ of loss] It shall be burned in fire.
- Leviticus 13:53
וְאִם יִרְאֶה הַכֹּהֵן וְהִנֵּה לֹא־פָשָׂה הַנֶּגַע בַּבֶּגֶד אוֹ בַשְּׁתִי אוֹ בָעֵרֶב אוֹ בְּכׇל־כְּלִי־עוֹר׃
But if the priest sees that the affection in the cloth—whether in warp or in woof, or in any article of skin—has not spread,
Targum Onkelos
וְאִם יִחְזֵי כָהֲנָא וְהָא לָא אוֹסֵיף מַכְתָּשָׁא בִּלְבוּשָׁא אוֹ בְשִׁתְיָא אוֹ בְעִרְבָּא אוֹ בְכָל מָן דִּמְשַׁךְ׃
If the kohein will see, and behold! the eruption did not spread [increase] in the garment, or in the warp threads, or in the woof threads, or in any leather made object.
- Leviticus 13:54
וְצִוָּה הַכֹּהֵן וְכִבְּסוּ אֵת אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ הַנָּגַע וְהִסְגִּירוֹ שִׁבְעַת־יָמִים שֵׁנִית׃
the priest shall order the affected article washed, and he shall isolate it for another seven days.
Targum Onkelos
וִיפַקֵּיד כָּהֲנָא וִיחַוְּרוּן יָת דְּבֵיהּ מַכְתָּשָׁא וְיַסְגְּרִנֵּיהּ שִׁבְעָא יוֹמִין תִּנְיָנוּת׃
The kohein shall command that they shall wash the article having the eruption, and confine it for seven days, a second time.
