- Exodus 40:28
וַיָּשֶׂם אֶת־מָסַךְ הַפֶּתַח לַמִּשְׁכָּן׃
Then he put up the screen for the entrance of the Tabernacle.
Targum Onkelos
וְשַׁוִּי יָת פְּרָסָא דְּתַרְעָא לְמַשְׁכְּנָא׃
He set up the screen at the mishkon’s entrance.
- Exodus 40:29
וְאֵת מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה שָׂם פֶּתַח מִשְׁכַּן אֹהֶל־מוֹעֵד וַיַּעַל עָלָיו אֶת־הָעֹלָה וְאֶת־הַמִּנְחָה כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהֹוָה אֶת־מֹשֶׁה׃
At the entrance of the Tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting he placed the altar of burnt offering. On it he offered up the burnt offering and the grain offering—as GOD had commanded Moses.
Targum Onkelos
וְיָת מַדְבְּחָא דַּעֲלָתָא שַׁוִּי בִּתְרַע מַשְׁכְּנָא מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וְאַסֵּיק עֲלוֹהִי יָת עֲלָתָא וְיָת מִנְחָתָא כְּמָא דְּפַקֵּיד יְיָ יָת מֹשֶׁה׃
He placed the burnt-offering altar at the entrance of the mishkon of the Tent of Meeting. He sacrificed on it a burnt-offering and a meal-offering, just as Adonoy commanded Moshe.

וַיָּשֶׂם אֶת־הַכִּיֹּר בֵּין־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וּבֵין הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וַיִּתֵּן שָׁמָּה מַיִם לְרׇחְצָה׃
He placed the laver between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water in it for washing.
Targum Onkelos
וְשַׁוִּי יָת כִּיּוֹרָא בֵּין מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וּבֵין מַדְבְּחָא וִיהַב תַּמָּן מַיָּא לְקִדּוּשׁ׃
He set the laver between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water into it for washing [sanctification].

וְרָחֲצוּ מִמֶּנּוּ מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו אֶת־יְדֵיהֶם וְאֶת־רַגְלֵיהֶם׃
From it Moses and Aaron and his sons would wash their hands and feet;
Targum Onkelos
וּמְקַדְּשִׁין מִנֵּיהּ מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן וּבְנוֹהִי יָת יְדֵיהוֹן וְיָת רַגְלֵיהוֹן׃
Moshe, Aharon and his sons washed [would sanctify] their hands and feet from it,

בְּבֹאָם אֶל־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וּבְקׇרְבָתָם אֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ יִרְחָצוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהֹוָה אֶת־מֹשֶׁה׃
they washed when they entered the Tent of Meeting and when they approached the altar—as GOD had commanded Moses.
Targum Onkelos
בְּמֵיעַלְהוֹן לְמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וּבְמִקְרַבְהוֹן לְמַדְבְּחָא מְקַדְּשִׁין כְּמָא דְּפַקֵּיד יְיָ יָת מֹשֶׁה׃
when they came to the Tent of Meeting and when they approached the altar they would wash [sanctify themselves], just as Adonoy commanded Moshe.

וַיָּקֶם אֶת־הֶחָצֵר סָבִיב לַמִּשְׁכָּן וְלַמִּזְבֵּחַ וַיִּתֵּן אֶת־מָסַךְ שַׁעַר הֶחָצֵר וַיְכַל מֹשֶׁה אֶת־הַמְּלָאכָה׃
And he set up the enclosure around the Tabernacle and the altar, and put up the screen for the gate of the enclosure. When Moses had finished the work,
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲקֵים יָת דָּרְתָא סְחוֹר סְחוֹר לְמַשְׁכְּנָא וּלְמַדְבְּחָא וִיהַב יָת פְּרָסָא דִּתְרַע דָּרְתָא וְשֵׁיצִי מֹשֶׁה יָת עֲבִידְתָא׃
He set up the enclosure around the mishkon and the altar, and put up the screen at the enclosure’s entrance, and thus Moshe completed the work.

וַיְכַס הֶעָנָן אֶת־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וּכְבוֹד יְהֹוָה מָלֵא אֶת־הַמִּשְׁכָּן׃
the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the Presence of GOD filled the Tabernacle.
Targum Onkelos
וַחֲפָא עֲנָנָא יָת מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וִיקָרָא דַּייָ אִתְמְלִי יָת מַשְׁכְּנָא׃
The cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of Adonoy filled the mishkon.
- Exodus 40:35
וְלֹא־יָכֹל מֹשֶׁה לָבוֹא אֶל־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד כִּי־שָׁכַן עָלָיו הֶעָנָן וּכְבוֹד יְהֹוָה מָלֵא אֶת־הַמִּשְׁכָּן׃
Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud had settled upon it and the Presence of GOD filled the Tabernacle.
Targum Onkelos
וְלָא יָכֵיל מֹשֶׁה לְמֵיעַל לְמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא אֲרֵי שְׁרָא עֲלוֹהִי עֲנָנָא וִיקָרָא דַּייָ אִתְמְלִי יָת מַשְׁכְּנָא׃
Moshe was unable to enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud rested on it, and the glory of Adonoy filled the mishkon.

וּבְהֵעָלוֹת הֶעָנָן מֵעַל הַמִּשְׁכָּן יִסְעוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכֹל מַסְעֵיהֶם׃
When the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the Israelites would set out, on their various journeys;
Targum Onkelos
וּבְאִסְתַּלָּקוּת עֲנָנָא מֵעִלָּוֵי מַשְׁכְּנָא נָטְלִין בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכֹל מַטְּלָנֵיהוֹן׃
When the cloud rose up from over the mishkon, the B’nei Yisrael would set out in all their travels.
- Exodus 40:37
וְאִם־לֹא יֵעָלֶה הֶעָנָן וְלֹא יִסְעוּ עַד־יוֹם הֵעָלֹתוֹ׃
but if the cloud did not lift, they would not set out until such time as it did lift.
Targum Onkelos
וְאִם לָא מִסְתַּלַּק עֲנָנָא וְלָא נָטְלִין עַד יוֹם אִסְתַּלָּקוּתֵיהּ׃
If the cloud did not rise, they would not set out until the day that it rose.
- Exodus 40:38
כִּי עֲנַן יְהֹוָה עַל־הַמִּשְׁכָּן יוֹמָם וְאֵשׁ תִּהְיֶה לַיְלָה בּוֹ לְעֵינֵי כׇל־בֵּית־יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכׇל־מַסְעֵיהֶם׃
For over the Tabernacle a cloud of GOD rested by day, while fire would appear in that cloud by night—in the view of all the house of Israel throughout their journeys.
Targum Onkelos
אֲרֵי עֲנַן יְקָרָא דַּייָ עַל מַשְׁכְּנָא בִּימָמָא וְחֵיזוּ אִישָׁתָא הָוֵי בְּלֵילְיָא בֵיהּ לְעֵינֵי כָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכָל מַטְּלָנֵיהוֹן׃
For the cloud of [the Glory of] Adonoy was upon the mishkon by day, and there was a [vision of] fire in it by night, before the eyes of the entire Beis Yisrael, in all their travels.
