- Leviticus 23:23
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהֹוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר׃
GOD spoke to Moses, saying:
Targum Onkelos
וּמַלֵּיל יְיָ עִם מֹשֶׁה לְמֵימַר׃
Adonoy spoke to Moshe, saying;
- Leviticus 23:24
דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ יִהְיֶה לָכֶם שַׁבָּתוֹן זִכְרוֹן תְּרוּעָה מִקְרָא־קֹדֶשׁ׃
Speak to the Israelite people thus: In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe complete rest, a sacred occasion commemorated with loud blasts.
Targum Onkelos
מַלֵּיל עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְמֵימַר בְּיַרְחָא שְׁבִיעָאָה בְּחַד לְיַרְחָא יְהֵי לְכוֹן נְיָחָא דּוּכְרַן יַבָּבָא מְעָרַע קַדִּישׁ׃
Speak to Bnei Yisroel, saying; in the seventh month, on the first of the month, shall be for you a [day of] rest. A remembrance of the sounding [crying] [of the shofor], a holy assembly [occurrence].
- Leviticus 23:25
כׇּל־מְלֶאכֶת עֲבֹדָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ וְהִקְרַבְתֶּם אִשֶּׁה לַיהֹוָה׃
You shall not work at your occupations; and you shall bring an offering by fire to GOD.
Targum Onkelos
כָּל עֲבִידַת פּוּלְחַן לָא תַעְבְּדוּן וּתְקָרְבוּן קוּרְבָּנָא קֳדָם יְיָ׃
You shall not do any work of labor and you shall bring a fire-offering to [an offering before] Adonoy.
- Leviticus 23:26
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהֹוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר׃

Adonoy spoke to Moshe, saying;
- Leviticus 23:27
אַךְ בֶּעָשׂוֹר לַחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי הַזֶּה יוֹם הַכִּפֻּרִים הוּא מִקְרָא־קֹדֶשׁ יִהְיֶה לָכֶם וְעִנִּיתֶם אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם וְהִקְרַבְתֶּם אִשֶּׁה לַיהֹוָה׃
Mark, the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be a sacred occasion for you: you shall practice self-denial, and you shall bring an offering by fire to GOD;
Targum Onkelos
בְּרַם בְּעַשְׂרָא לְיַרְחָא שְׁבִיעָאָה הָדֵין יוֹמָא דְּכִפּוּרַיָּא הוּא מְעָרַע קַדִּישׁ יְהֵי לְכוֹן וּתְעַנּוֹן יָת נַפְשָׁתְכוֹן וּתְקָרְבוּן קוּרְבָּנָא קֳדָם יְיָ׃
Indeed, on the tenth day of this seventh month is a day of atonement. It shall be for you a [day of] holy assembly [occurrence] and you shall afflict yourselves and you shall bring a fire-offering to [an offering before] Adonoy.
- Leviticus 23:28
וְכׇל־מְלָאכָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ בְּעֶצֶם הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה כִּי יוֹם כִּפֻּרִים הוּא לְכַפֵּר עֲלֵיכֶם לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃
you shall do no work throughout that day. For it is a Day of Atonement, on which expiation is made on your behalf before the ETERNAL your God.
Targum Onkelos
וְכָל עֲבִידָא לָא תַעְבְּדוּן בִּכְרַן יוֹמָא הָדֵין אֲרֵי יוֹמָא דְּכִפּוּרַיָּא הוּא לְכַפָּרָא עֲלֵיכוֹן קֳדָם יְיָ אֱלָהֲכוֹן׃
You shall not do any work on this very day, for it is a day of atonements, to atone for you before Adonoy, your God.
- Leviticus 23:29
כִּי כׇל־הַנֶּפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא־תְעֻנֶּה בְּעֶצֶם הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה וְנִכְרְתָה מֵעַמֶּיהָ׃
Indeed, any person who does not practice self-denial throughout that day shall be cut off from kin;
Targum Onkelos
אֲרֵי כָל אֱנָשׁ דְּלָא יִתְעַנֵּי בִּכְרַן יוֹמָא הָדֵין וְיִשְׁתֵּיצֵי מֵעַמֵּיהּ׃
For any person who will not be afflicted on this very day shall be cut off from his people.
- Leviticus 23:30
וְכׇל־הַנֶּפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר תַּעֲשֶׂה כׇּל־מְלָאכָה בְּעֶצֶם הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה וְהַאֲבַדְתִּי אֶת־הַנֶּפֶשׁ הַהִוא מִקֶּרֶב עַמָּהּ׃
and whoever does any work throughout that day, I will cause that person to perish from among the people.
Targum Onkelos
וְכָל אֱנָשׁ דְּיַעֲבֵיד כָּל עֲבִידָא בִּכְרַן יוֹמָא הָדֵין וְאוֹבֵיד יָת אֲנָשָׁא הַהוּא מִגּוֹ עַמֵּיהּ׃
Any person who does any work on this very day, I will cause that person to perish from among his people.
- Leviticus 23:31
כׇּל־מְלָאכָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ חֻקַּת עוֹלָם לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם בְּכֹל מֹשְׁבֹתֵיכֶם׃
Do no work whatever; it is a law for all time, throughout the ages in all your settlements.
Targum Onkelos
כָּל עֲבִידָא לָא תַעְבְּדוּן קְיָם עָלַם לְדָרֵיכוֹן בְּכֹל מוֹתְבָנֵיכוֹן׃
You shall not do any work; it is an everlasting statute for all your generations in all your dwelling places.
- Leviticus 23:32
שַׁבַּת שַׁבָּתוֹן הוּא לָכֶם וְעִנִּיתֶם אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם בְּתִשְׁעָה לַחֹדֶשׁ בָּעֶרֶב מֵעֶרֶב עַד־עֶרֶב תִּשְׁבְּתוּ שַׁבַּתְּכֶם׃
It shall be a sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall practice self-denial; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall observe this your sabbath.
Targum Onkelos
שַׁבָּא שַׁבָּתָא הוּא לְכוֹן וּתְעַנּוֹן יָת נַפְשָׁתְכוֹן בְּתִשְׁעָא לְיַרְחָא בְּרַמְשָׁא מֵרַמְשָׁא עַד רַמְשָׁא תְּנוּחוּן נְיָחֲכוֹן׃
It is a Shabbos of complete rest for you and you shall afflict yourselves on the ninth day of the month at evening; from evening to evening you shall rest, on your day of rest.
