- Genesis 1:1
בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ׃
When God began to create heaven and earth—
Targum Onkelos
בְּקַדְמִין בְּרָא יְיָ יָת שְׁמַיָּא וְיָת אַרְעָא׃
In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.
- Genesis 1:2
וְהָאָרֶץ הָיְתָה תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ וְחֹשֶׁךְ עַל־פְּנֵי תְהוֹם וְרוּחַ אֱלֹהִים מְרַחֶפֶת עַל־פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם׃
the earth being unformed and void, with darkness over the surface of the deep and a wind from God sweeping over the water—
Targum Onkelos
וְאַרְעָא הֲוָת צָדְיָא וְרֵיקָנְיָא וַחֲשׁוֹכָא עַל אַפֵּי תְּהוֹמָא וְרוּחָא מִן קֳדָם יְיָ מְנַשְּׁבָא עַל אַפֵּי מַיָּא׃
The earth was unformed and desolate, and (there was) darkness [was spread] over the surface of the abyss. The breath of [from before] Elohim hovered [blew] above the surface of the water.
- Genesis 1:3
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי אוֹר וַיְהִי־אוֹר׃
God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ יְהֵי נְהוֹרָא וַהֲוָה נְהוֹרָא׃
Elohim said, Let there be light. and there was light.
- Genesis 1:4
וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים אֶת־הָאוֹר כִּי־טוֹב וַיַּבְדֵּל אֱלֹהִים בֵּין הָאוֹר וּבֵין הַחֹשֶׁךְ׃
God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness.
Targum Onkelos
וַחֲזָא יְיָ יָת נְהוֹרָא אֲרֵי טָב וְאַפְרֵישׁ יְיָ בֵּין נְהוֹרָא וּבֵין חֲשׁוֹכָא׃
Elohim saw that the light was good, and Elohim divided the light from the darkness.
- Genesis 1:5
וַיִּקְרָא אֱלֹהִים ׀ לָאוֹר יוֹם וְלַחֹשֶׁךְ קָרָא לָיְלָה וַיְהִי־עֶרֶב וַיְהִי־בֹקֶר יוֹם אֶחָד׃
God called the light Day—and called the darkness Night. And there was evening and there was morning, a first day.
Targum Onkelos
וּקְרָא יְיָ לִנְהוֹרָא יְמָמָא וְלַחֲשׁוֹכָא קְרָא לֵילְיָא וַהֲוָה רְמַשׁ וַהֲוָה צְפַר יוֹם חַד׃
Elohim called the light day, and the darkness He called night. It became evening and it became morning, one day.
- Genesis 1:6
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי רָקִיעַ בְּתוֹךְ הַמָּיִם וִיהִי מַבְדִּיל בֵּין מַיִם לָמָיִם׃
God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the water, that it may separate water from water.”
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ יְהֵי רְקִיעָא בִּמְצִיעוּת מַיָּא וִיהֵי מַפְרֵישׁ בֵּין מַיָּא לְמַיָּא׃
Elohim said, Let there be a canopy in the midst [middle] of the waters, and let it divide between waters and waters.
- Genesis 1:7
וַיַּעַשׂ אֱלֹהִים אֶת־הָרָקִיעַ וַיַּבְדֵּל בֵּין הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר מִתַּחַת לָרָקִיעַ וּבֵין הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר מֵעַל לָרָקִיעַ וַיְהִי־כֵן׃
God made the expanse, and it separated the water that was below the expanse from the water that was above the expanse. And it was so.
Targum Onkelos
וַעֲבַד יְיָ יָת רְקִיעָא וְאַפְרֵישׁ בֵּין מַיָּא דְּמִלְּרַע לִרְקִיעָא וּבֵין מַיָּא דְּמֵעַל לִרְקִיעָא וַהֲוָה כֵן׃
Elohim made the canopy, and divided the waters which were beneath the canopy, from the waters which were above the canopy, and it was so.
- Genesis 1:8
וַיִּקְרָא אֱלֹהִים לָרָקִיעַ שָׁמָיִם וַיְהִי־עֶרֶב וַיְהִי־בֹקֶר יוֹם שֵׁנִי׃
God called the expanse Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
Targum Onkelos
וּקְרָא יְיָ לִרְקִיעָא שְׁמַיָּא וַהֲוָה רְמַשׁ וַהֲוָה צְפַר יוֹם תִּנְיָן׃
Elohim called the canopy heaven. It became evening and it became morning the second day.
- Genesis 1:9
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יִקָּווּ הַמַּיִם מִתַּחַת הַשָּׁמַיִם אֶל־מָקוֹם אֶחָד וְתֵרָאֶה הַיַּבָּשָׁה וַיְהִי־כֵן׃
God said, “Let the water below the sky be gathered into one area, that the dry land may appear.” And it was so.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ יִתְכַּנְשׁוּן מַיָּא מִתְּחוֹת שְׁמַיָּא לַאֲתַר חַד וְתִתַּחְזֵי יַבֶּשְׁתָּא וַהֲוָה כֵן׃
Elohim said, Let the waters beneath the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dryness be seen. It was so.
- Genesis 1:10
וַיִּקְרָא אֱלֹהִים ׀ לַיַּבָּשָׁה אֶרֶץ וּלְמִקְוֵה הַמַּיִם קָרָא יַמִּים וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים כִּי־טוֹב׃
God called the dry land Earth—and called the gathering of waters Seas. And God saw that this was good.
Targum Onkelos
וּקְרָא יְיָ לְיַבַּשְׁתָּא אַרְעָא וּלְבֵית כְּנֵישָׁת מַיָּא קְרָא יַמְמֵי וַחֲזָא יְיָ אֲרֵי טָב׃
Elohim called the dryness, earth, and the gathering of the waters, He called seas, and Elohim saw that it was good.
- Genesis 1:11
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים תַּדְשֵׁא הָאָרֶץ דֶּשֶׁא עֵשֶׂב מַזְרִיעַ זֶרַע עֵץ פְּרִי עֹשֶׂה פְּרִי לְמִינוֹ אֲשֶׁר זַרְעוֹ־בוֹ עַל־הָאָרֶץ וַיְהִי־כֵן׃
And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation: seed-bearing plants, fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ תַּדְאֵית אַרְעָא דִּתְאָה עִסְבָּא דְּבַר זַרְעֵיהּ מִזְדְּרַע אִילָן פֵּירִין עָבֵיד פֵּירִין לִזְנֵיהּ דְּבַר זַרְעֵיהּ בֵּיהּ עַל אַרְעָא וַהֲוָה כֵן׃
Elohim said, Let the earth sprout grass, seed-yielding herbs, fruit trees bearing fruit of its own kind, with its seed within it, upon the earth. And it was so.
- Genesis 1:12
וַתּוֹצֵא הָאָרֶץ דֶּשֶׁא עֵשֶׂב מַזְרִיעַ זֶרַע לְמִינֵהוּ וְעֵץ עֹשֶׂה־פְּרִי אֲשֶׁר זַרְעוֹ־בוֹ לְמִינֵהוּ וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים כִּי־טוֹב׃
The earth brought forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that this was good.
Targum Onkelos
וְאַפֵּיקַת אַרְעָא דִּתְאָה עִסְבָּא דְּבַר זַרְעֵיהּ מִזְדְּרַע לִזְנוֹהִי וְאִילָן עָבֵיד פֵּירִין דְּבַר זַרְעֵיהּ בֵּיהּ לִזְנוֹהִי וַחֲזָא יְיָ אֲרֵי טָב׃
The earth brought forth grass, herbs yielding seed of its kind, and trees bearing fruit which has in it seeds of its kind; and Elohim saw that it was good.

וַיְהִי־עֶרֶב וַיְהִי־בֹקֶר יוֹם שְׁלִישִׁי׃
And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.
Targum Onkelos
וַהֲוָה רְמַשׁ וַהֲוָה צְפַר יוֹם תְּלִיתָי׃
It became evening and it became morning, the third day.
- Genesis 1:14
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי מְאֹרֹת בִּרְקִיעַ הַשָּׁמַיִם לְהַבְדִּיל בֵּין הַיּוֹם וּבֵין הַלָּיְלָה וְהָיוּ לְאֹתֹת וּלְמוֹעֲדִים וּלְיָמִים וְשָׁנִים׃
God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate day from night; they shall serve as signs for the set times—the days and the years;
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ יְהוֹן נְהוֹרִין בִּרְקִיעָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא לְאַפְרָשָׁא בֵּין יְמָמָא וּבֵין לֵילְיָא וִיהוֹן לְאָתִין וּלְזִמְנִין וּלְמִמְנֵי בְּהוֹן יוֹמִין וּשְׁנִין׃
Elohim said, Let there be lights in the canopy of heaven to divide between the day and the night, and they will serve for signs for seasons, [and to count] (for) days and (for) years [with them].
- Genesis 1:15
וְהָיוּ לִמְאוֹרֹת בִּרְקִיעַ הַשָּׁמַיִם לְהָאִיר עַל־הָאָרֶץ וַיְהִי־כֵן׃
and they shall serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth.” And it was so.
Targum Onkelos
וִיהוֹן לִנְהוֹרִין בִּרְקִיעָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא לְאַנְהָרָא עַל אַרְעָא וַהֲוָה כֵן׃
They will be for lights in the canopy of heaven to illuminate the earth. And it was so.
- Genesis 1:16
וַיַּעַשׂ אֱלֹהִים אֶת־שְׁנֵי הַמְּאֹרֹת הַגְּדֹלִים אֶת־הַמָּאוֹר הַגָּדֹל לְמֶמְשֶׁלֶת הַיּוֹם וְאֶת־הַמָּאוֹר הַקָּטֹן לְמֶמְשֶׁלֶת הַלַּיְלָה וְאֵת הַכּוֹכָבִים׃
God made the two great lights, the greater light to dominate the day and the lesser light to dominate the night, and the stars.
Targum Onkelos
וַעֲבַד יְיָ יָת תְּרֵין נְהוֹרַיָּא רַבְרְבַיָּא יָת נְהוֹרָא רַבָּא לְמִשְׁלַט בִּימָמָא וְיָת נְהוֹרָא זְעֵירָא לְמִשְׁלַט בְּלֵילְיָא וְיָת כּוֹכְבַיָּא׃
Elohim made the two great lights, the large light to rule the day, and the small light to rule the night, and the stars
- Genesis 1:17
וַיִּתֵּן אֹתָם אֱלֹהִים בִּרְקִיעַ הַשָּׁמָיִם לְהָאִיר עַל־הָאָרֶץ׃
And God set them in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth,
Targum Onkelos
וִיהַב יָתְהוֹן יְיָ בִּרְקִיעָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא לְאַנְהָרָא עַל־אַרְעָא׃
Elohim set them in the canopy of the heaven to illuminate the earth,
- Genesis 1:18
וְלִמְשֹׁל בַּיּוֹם וּבַלַּיְלָה וּלְהַבְדִּיל בֵּין הָאוֹר וּבֵין הַחֹשֶׁךְ וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים כִּי־טוֹב׃
to dominate the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that this was good.
Targum Onkelos
וּלְמִשְׁלַט בִּימָמָא וּבְלֵילְיָא וּלְאַפְרָשָׁא בֵּין נְהוֹרָא וּבֵין חֲשׁוֹכָא וַחֲזָא יְיָ אֲרֵי טָב׃
to rule in the day and the night, and to divide between the light and the darkness; and Elohim saw that it was good.
- Genesis 1:19
וַיְהִי־עֶרֶב וַיְהִי־בֹקֶר יוֹם רְבִיעִי׃
And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
Targum Onkelos
וַהֲוָה רְמַשׁ וַהֲוָה צְפַר יוֹם רְבִיעָי׃
It became evening and it became morning, the fourth day.
- Genesis 1:20
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יִשְׁרְצוּ הַמַּיִם שֶׁרֶץ נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה וְעוֹף יְעוֹפֵף עַל־הָאָרֶץ עַל־פְּנֵי רְקִיעַ הַשָּׁמָיִם׃
God said, “Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and birds that fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.”
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ יִרְחֲשׁוּן מַיָּא רְחֵישׁ נַפְשָׁא חַיְתָא וְעוֹפָא יְפָרַח עַל־אַרְעָא עַל אַפֵּי רְקִיעַ שְׁמַיָּא׃
Elohim said, Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth, in the open canopy of the heaven.
- Genesis 1:21
וַיִּבְרָא אֱלֹהִים אֶת־הַתַּנִּינִם הַגְּדֹלִים וְאֵת כׇּל־נֶפֶשׁ הַחַיָּה ׀ הָרֹמֶשֶׂת אֲשֶׁר שָׁרְצוּ הַמַּיִם לְמִינֵהֶם וְאֵת כׇּל־עוֹף כָּנָף לְמִינֵהוּ וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים כִּי־טוֹב׃
God created the great sea monsters, and all the living creatures of every kind that creep, which the waters brought forth in swarms, and all the winged birds of every kind. And God saw that this was good.
Targum Onkelos
וּבְרָא יְיָ יָת תַּנִּינַיָּא רַבְרְבַיָּא וְיָת כָּל נַפְשָׁא חַיְתָא דְּרָחֲשָׁא דְּאַרְחִישׁוּ מַיָּא לִזְנֵיהוֹן וְיָת כָּל עוֹפָא דְּפָרַח לִזְנוֹהִי וַחֲזָא יְיָ אֲרֵי טָב׃
And thus Elohim created the great whales, and every living creature that creeps, with which the waters teem, of its kind, and every winged bird of its kind; and Elohim saw that it was good.
- Genesis 1:22
וַיְבָרֶךְ אֹתָם אֱלֹהִים לֵאמֹר פְּרוּ וּרְבוּ וּמִלְאוּ אֶת־הַמַּיִם בַּיַּמִּים וְהָעוֹף יִרֶב בָּאָרֶץ׃
God blessed them, saying, “Be fertile and increase, fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”
Targum Onkelos
וּבָרֵיךְ יָתְהוֹן יְיָ לְמֵימַר פּוּשׁוּ וּסְגוֹ וּמְלוֹ יָת מַיָּא בְּיַמְמַיָּא וְעוֹפָא יִסְגֵּי בְּאַרְעָא׃
Elohim blessed them saying, Be fruitful and multiply, fill the waters of the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.
- Genesis 1:23
וַיְהִי־עֶרֶב וַיְהִי־בֹקֶר יוֹם חֲמִישִׁי׃
And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
Targum Onkelos
וַהֲוָה רְמַשׁ וַהֲוָה צְפַר יוֹם חֲמִישָׁי׃
It became evening and it became morning, the fifth day.
- Genesis 1:24
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים תּוֹצֵא הָאָרֶץ נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה לְמִינָהּ בְּהֵמָה וָרֶמֶשׂ וְחַיְתוֹ־אֶרֶץ לְמִינָהּ וַיְהִי־כֵן׃
God said, “Let the earth bring forth every kind of living creature: cattle, creeping things, and wild beasts of every kind.” And it was so.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ תַּפֵּיק אַרְעָא נַפְשָׁא חַיְתָא לִזְנַהּ בְּעִיר וּרְחֵישׁ וְחַיַּת אַרְעָא לִזְנַהּ וַהֲוָה כֵן׃
Elohim said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures, each of its kind, animals [of pasture], creeping things, and beasts of the earth, each to its kind. And it was so.
- Genesis 1:25
וַיַּעַשׂ אֱלֹהִים אֶת־חַיַּת הָאָרֶץ לְמִינָהּ וְאֶת־הַבְּהֵמָה לְמִינָהּ וְאֵת כׇּל־רֶמֶשׂ הָאֲדָמָה לְמִינֵהוּ וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים כִּי־טוֹב׃
God made wild beasts of every kind and cattle of every kind, and all kinds of creeping things of the earth. And God saw that this was good.
Targum Onkelos
וַעֲבַד יְיָ יָת חַיַּת אַרְעָא לִזְנַהּ וְיָת בְּעִירָא לִזְנַהּ וְיָת כָּל רִחְשָׁא דְּאַרְעָא לִזְנוֹהִי וַחֲזָא יְיָ אֲרֵי טָב׃
And thus Elohim made the beasts of the earth, each of its kind, the animals [of pasture] each of its kind, and everything that creeps on the ground, each of its kind, and Elohim saw that it was good.
- Genesis 1:26
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים נַעֲשֶׂה אָדָם בְּצַלְמֵנוּ כִּדְמוּתֵנוּ וְיִרְדּוּ בִדְגַת הַיָּם וּבְעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם וּבַבְּהֵמָה וּבְכׇל־הָאָרֶץ וּבְכׇל־הָרֶמֶשׂ הָרֹמֵשׂ עַל־הָאָרֶץ׃
And God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness. They shall rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the cattle, the whole earth, and all the creeping things that creep on earth.”
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ נַעֲבֵיד אֲנָשָׁא בְּצַלְמַנָא כִּדְמוּתַנָא וְיִשְׁלְטוּן בְּנוּנֵי יַמָּא וּבְעוֹפָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא וּבִבְעִירָא וּבְכָל אַרְעָא וּבְכָל רִחְשָׁא דְּרָחֵישׁ עַל אַרְעָא׃
Elohim said, Let us make man in our image, as our likeness, and let him dominate the fish of the sea, the birds of the heaven, the animals, all the earth, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
- Genesis 1:27
וַיִּבְרָא אֱלֹהִים ׀ אֶת־הָאָדָם בְּצַלְמוֹ בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים בָּרָא אֹתוֹ זָכָר וּנְקֵבָה בָּרָא אֹתָם׃
And God created humankind in the divine image, creating it in the image of God— creating them male and female.
Targum Onkelos
וּבְרָא יְיָ יָת אָדָם בְּצַלְמֵיהּ בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים בְּרָא יָתֵיהּ דְּכַר וְנוּקְבָּא בְּרָא יָתְהוֹן׃
And thus Elohim created man in his image. In the form of Elohim, He created him, male and female, He created them.
- Genesis 1:28
וַיְבָרֶךְ אֹתָם אֱלֹהִים וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם אֱלֹהִים פְּרוּ וּרְבוּ וּמִלְאוּ אֶת־הָאָרֶץ וְכִבְשֻׁהָ וּרְדוּ בִּדְגַת הַיָּם וּבְעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם וּבְכׇל־חַיָּה הָרֹמֶשֶׂת עַל־הָאָרֶץ׃
God blessed them and God said to them, “Be fertile and increase, fill the earth and master it; and rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and all the living things that creep on earth.”
Targum Onkelos
וּבָרֵיךְ יָתְהוֹן יְיָ וַאֲמַר לְהוֹן יְיָ פּוּשׁוּ וּסְגוֹ וּמְלוֹ יָת אַרְעָא וּתְקוּפוּ עֲלַהּ וּשְׁלוּטוּ בְּנוּנֵי יַמָּא וּבְעוֹפָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא וּבְכָל חַיְתָא דְּרָחֲשָׁא עַל אַרְעָא׃
Elohim blessed them, and Elohim said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, and dominate the fish of the sea, the birds of the heaven, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.
- Genesis 1:29
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים הִנֵּה נָתַתִּי לָכֶם אֶת־כׇּל־עֵשֶׂב ׀ זֹרֵעַ זֶרַע אֲשֶׁר עַל־פְּנֵי כׇל־הָאָרֶץ וְאֶת־כׇּל־הָעֵץ אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ פְרִי־עֵץ זֹרֵעַ זָרַע לָכֶם יִהְיֶה לְאׇכְלָה׃
God said, “See, I give you every seed-bearing plant that is upon all the earth, and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit; they shall be yours for food.
Targum Onkelos
וַאֲמַר יְיָ הָא יְהַבִית לְכוֹן יָת כָּל עִסְבָּא דְּבַר זַרְעֵיהּ מִזְדְּרַע דְּעַל אַפֵּי כָל אַרְעָא וְיָת כָּל אִילָנָא דְּבֵיהּ פֵּירֵי אִילָנָא דְּבַר זַרְעֵיהּ מִזְדְּרַע לְכוֹן יְהֵי לְמֵיכַל׃
Elohim said, Behold, I have given you all seed-yielding herbs that are on the surface of the earth, and every tree that has seed-yielding fruit; to you it shall be for food.

וּלְכׇל־חַיַּת הָאָרֶץ וּלְכׇל־עוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם וּלְכֹל ׀ רוֹמֵשׂ עַל־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה אֶת־כׇּל־יֶרֶק עֵשֶׂב לְאׇכְלָה וַיְהִי־כֵן׃
And to all the animals on land, to all the birds of the sky, and to everything that creeps on earth, in which there is the breath of life, [I give] all the green plants for food.” And it was so.
Targum Onkelos
וּלְכָל חַיַּת אַרְעָא וּלְכָל עוֹפָא דִּשְׁמַיָּא וּלְכֹל דְּרָחֵישׁ עַל אַרְעָא דְּבֵיהּ נַפְשָׁא חַיְתָא יָת כָּל יָרוֹק עִסְבָּא לְמֵיכַל וַהֲוָה כֵן׃
And for every animal of the earth, for every bird of the heaven, and for everything that creeps on the ground, in which there is a living spirit, all vegetational herbs shall be [their] food. And it was so.
- Genesis 1:31
וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים אֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וְהִנֵּה־טוֹב מְאֹד וַיְהִי־עֶרֶב וַיְהִי־בֹקֶר יוֹם הַשִּׁשִּׁי׃
And God saw all that had been made, and found it very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Targum Onkelos
וַחֲזָא יְיָ יָת כָּל דַּעֲבַד וְהָא תָּקֵין לַחְדָּא וַהֲוָה רְמַשׁ וַהֲוָה צְפַר יוֹם שְׁתִיתָי׃
Elohim saw all that He had made, and behold it was very good [completely prepared]. It became evening and it became morning, the sixth day.
- Genesis 2:1
וַיְכֻלּוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם וְהָאָרֶץ וְכׇל־צְבָאָם׃
The heaven and the earth were finished, and all their array.
Targum Onkelos
וְאִשְׁתַּכְלַלוּ שְׁמַיָּא וְאַרְעָא וְכָל חֵילֵיהוֹן׃
The heavens and the earth were completed, and [so were] all their conglomerations.
- Genesis 2:2
וַיְכַל אֱלֹהִים בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי מְלַאכְתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וַיִּשְׁבֹּת בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי מִכׇּל־מְלַאכְתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה׃
On the seventh day God finished the work that had been undertaken, ceasing on the seventh day from doing any of the work.
Targum Onkelos
וְשֵׁיצִי יְיָ בְּיוֹמָא שְׁבִיעָאָה עֲבִידְתֵיהּ דַּעֲבַד וְנָח בְּיוֹמָא שְׁבִיעָאָה מִכָּל עֲבִידְתֵיהּ דַּעֲבַד׃
Elohim completed by the seventh day His work which He had made, and He abstained on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.
- Genesis 2:3
וַיְבָרֶךְ אֱלֹהִים אֶת־יוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי וַיְקַדֵּשׁ אֹתוֹ כִּי בוֹ שָׁבַת מִכׇּל־מְלַאכְתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר־בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים לַעֲשׂוֹת׃
And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy—having ceased on it from all the work of creation that God had done.
Targum Onkelos
וּבָרֵיךְ יְיָ יָת יוֹמָא שְׁבִיעָאָה וְקַדֵּישׁ יָתֵיהּ אֲרֵי בֵּיהּ נָח מִכָּל עֲבִידְתֵיהּ דִּבְרָא יְיָ לְמַעֲבַד׃
Elohim blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, for on it He abstained from all His work, which Elohim had created to do.
