  1. Leviticus 17:1

    GOD spoke to Moses, saying:

    Targum Onkelos

    Adonoy spoke to Moshe, saying:

  2. Leviticus 17:2

Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelite people and say to them: This is what GOD has commanded:

    Targum Onkelos

Speak to Aharon and to his sons and to all Bnei Yisroel and say to them; this is the edict that Adonoy commanded, saying:

  3. Leviticus 17:3

Regarding anyone of the house of Israel who slaughters an ox or sheep or goat in the camp, or does so outside the camp,

    Targum Onkelos

Each and every person of the House of Israel who will slaughter an ox, lamb, or goat within the encampment or who will slaughter [it] beyond the encampment.

  4. Leviticus 17:4

and does not bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to GOD, before GOD’s Tabernacle: bloodguilt shall be imputed to them; having shed blood, that person shall be cut off from among their people.

    Targum Onkelos

And to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting he did not bring it so that it may be brought as an offering to [before] Adonoy, before the Mishkan of Adonoy; it shall be considered for that person as blood, he has spilled blood, and that person shall be cut off from among his people.

  5. Leviticus 17:5

    לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר יָבִיאוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־זִבְחֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר הֵם זֹבְחִים עַל־פְּנֵי הַשָּׂדֶה וֶהֱבִיאֻם לַיהֹוָה אֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד אֶל־הַכֹּהֵן וְזָבְחוּ זִבְחֵי שְׁלָמִים לַיהֹוָה אוֹתָם׃

    This is in order that the Israelites may bring the sacrifices that they have been making in the open—that they may bring them before GOD, to the priest, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, and offer them as sacrifices of well-being to GOD;

    Targum Onkelos

    בְּדִיל דְּיַיְתוֹן בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יָת דִּבְחֵיהוֹן דְּאִנּוּן דָּבְחִין עַל אַפֵּי חַקְלָא וְיַיְתוּנוּן לִקְדָם יְיָ לִתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא לְוָת כָּהֲנָא וְיִכְּסוּן נִכְסַת קוּדְשִׁין קֳדָם יְיָ יָתְהוֹן׃

So that Bnei Yisroel shall bring their sacrifices that they [would] slaughter on the field, and [instead] they shall bring them to [before] Adonoy to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, to the kohein, and slaughter them as peace[sacred]-offerings to [before] Adonoy.

  6. Leviticus 17:6

    וְזָרַק הַכֹּהֵן אֶת־הַדָּם עַל־מִזְבַּח יְהֹוָה פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְהִקְטִיר הַחֵלֶב לְרֵיחַ נִיחֹחַ לַיהֹוָה׃

    that the priest may dash the blood against the altar of GOD at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, and turn the fat into smoke as a pleasing odor to GOD;

    Targum Onkelos

    וְיִזְרוֹק כָּהֲנָא יָת דְּמָא עַל מַדְבְּחָא דַּייָ בִּתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא וְיַסֵּיק תַּרְבָּא לְאִתְקַבָּלָא בְּרַעֲוָא קֳדָם יְיָ׃

The kohein shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of Adonoy at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting and burn the fat as a pleasing fragrance to [to be accepted with favor before] Adonoy.

  7. Leviticus 17:7

and that they may offer their sacrifices no more to the goat-demons after whom they stray. This shall be to them a law for all time, throughout the ages.

    Targum Onkelos

They shall no longer slaughter their sacrifices to the demons after which they go astray. This shall be an everlasting statute for them, for their descendants.
