The short version
You can use this whole app without an account, and if you do, nothing you read or answer ever leaves your device. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind, and nothing is ever sold or shared. Every page is served from our own domain, so nothing is fetched from anyone else unless you choose to sign in with Google or with Apple. If you make an account, what gets stored is your email address and your learning progress — nothing else.
If you don't make an account
Everything is kept in your own browser, in something called local storage. That includes which pesukim you have marked as read, your quiz scores, and your settings. It stays on that device. It is not sent to us, because there is no request that would carry it.
Clearing your browser data deletes it. There is no copy anywhere else, which is the trade-off: complete privacy, and nothing to recover if the device is lost.
If you do make an account
Then the following is stored in our database:
- Your email address, so you can sign back in.
- Your password, if you chose one — stored scrambled (hashed) by our authentication provider. Nobody, including us, can read it.
- If you signed in with Google: your email address, your name, and a link to your Google profile picture. We do not receive your Google password and have no access to anything else in your Google account.
- If you signed in with Apple: your email address, and your name if you chose to share it. If you used Hide My Email, we never see your real address — Apple gives us a forwarding address instead, and that is all we store. We do not receive your Apple password and have no access to anything else in your Apple account.
- Your learning: which pesukim you have read, your best quiz scores, which quiz questions you have been shown, any divrei Torah you saved, and your settings.
That is the complete list. We do not ask for your name, your age, your location, your phone number, or a photograph.
Who else is involved
- Vercel serves the website. Like every web host, their servers record ordinary request logs, which include IP addresses.
- Supabase stores accounts and progress. The database is located in the United States.
- Google, but only if you choose to sign in with Google. If you use an email address instead, Google is not involved in your account at all.
- Apple, but only if you choose to sign in with Apple. On an iPhone or iPad this happens on the device itself. If you use an email address instead, Apple is not involved in your account at all.
What we don't do
- No analytics. Not Google Analytics, not any other kind. We do not know how many people use this or which pages they open.
- No advertising, and no advertising networks.
- No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking.
- No selling, renting, or sharing your information with anyone.
- No emails from us, other than a password reset if you ask for one.
- The fonts are served from our own domain rather than fetched from Google, so loading a page does not tell Google you were here.
Cookies
We do not use cookies for tracking. Signing in stores a session token in your browser so that you stay signed in; that is what it is for and it does nothing else. Signing out removes it.
Who can see your progress
Only you. Every table in the database has rules that check who is asking, and those rules allow you to reach only your own rows. This is enforced by the database itself rather than by the app, and it is tested — a signed-in person asking for another person's data receives nothing, and cannot change or delete it.
What you can do
- Use the app without an account. Nothing is stored anywhere but your own device.
- Sign out at any time, from the icon at the top right. Your progress stays on the device.
- Clear your browser data to remove everything stored on the device.
- Delete your account and everything in it, from Settings. It happens straight away and cannot be undone.
Children
This app is meant for learning and is suitable for any age, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. A child can use the whole app without an account and without anything being stored anywhere.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly start collecting something this page says we do not.
